is
claimed to be the most successful, instructive
and entertaining gathering of piano merchants
ever held in Ohio was the seventh annual con-
vention of the Piano Merchants' Association of
Ohio at the Hotel Olmsted, this city, September
19 and 20. Close to 200 members from all parts
of the Buckeye State attended. Nearly 100 were
in attendance at the initial session, and each ad-
ditional meeting was augmented by newcomers.
of perplexing problems that confront the retailer.
One of the most pleasing features of develop-
ments during the past year with the organiza-
tion is the addition of nearly fifty new members.
Among them are T. H. Bracken, Starr Piano
Co., Cleveland; C. B. Rogers, Astabula; Leo
Gerhardstein, Sandusky; T. M. Dolleson, Co-
lumbus; C. V. Baumgardner, Sandusky; H. L.

hotel by George M. Ott, of the G. M. Ott Piano
Manufacturing Co.; Wade H. Poling, of the

Delegates and Guests at the Convention of the P.'ano Merchants' Association of Ohio
Many of the latter were brought in through
the efforts of President D. F. Summey, who
worked the long distance telephone overtime to
see that the members lived up to their duty.
Never before have such instructive addresses
been delivered. All the live wires in the indus-
try in this State were present, and every one
had something to tell that was of vast benefit to
every one present.
Considerable hot shot was fired by the more
energetic of the delegates, who were not averse
to letting their hearers know they were dis-
pleased with certain conditions. What was more
to the point, however, all had remedies to offer,
which, if taken advantage of, are almost certain
to do away with some of the countless number

Exhibits of manufacturers were held in sepa-
rate rooms of the hotel. Many of these came
from parts of the country other than in Ohio,
although the majority of displays were from
manufacturers in this State. No attempt to do
business was made by exhibitors, the occasion
being considered more of value as an oppor-
tunity to introduce new products.
Delegates began arriving in town on Monday
assistant secretary of the Cleveland Music Trade
Association.
Secretary B. C. Bowen, of Cincinnati, took
hold of the registration festivities, and with the
assistance of Messrs. Hyre and Kellogg, saw to
it that the members received their badges
promptly. By noon everything was set for the
initial session.
The Opening Session
The first business session opened promptly at
1.30 Tuesday afternoon when, after President
D. F. Summey had rapped for order, Mayor
Harry L. Davis extended a welcome to the
piano men.
