FEIST TO PUBLISH "FLORABELLA"
FIRE IN WATERSON OFFICES
Also Preparing New Numbers for "So Long
Letty"
Fire early Sunday morning destroyed the
stock, shipping and accounting departments of
Waterson, Berlin & Snyder, music publishers,
on the third floor of the Apeda Building, 212
West Forty-eighth street. The management an-
nounced Monday morning there would be little
or no delay in meeting shipping requirements.
"Florabella," the new opera produced by John
Cort, opened at the Broad Street Opera House,
Philadelphia, last Monday, with U n a Abarba-
nelle, of "Madame Sherry" fame, in the prin-
cipal role. The song numbers that are reported
to have been well received are the following:
"Florabella," "Give Me All of You" and "You're
trie Girl." "Florabella" will be seen in New
York in about five weeks. Leo Feist, Inc., are
the publishers of all the music.
Feist is also publishing the song "Cross Your
Fingers, Maggie Flynn," by Earl Carroll, now
being sung by Blanche Ring, in "Broadway and
Buttermilk." They are also preparing new
songs for the "So Long Letty" show. With
the above song numbers and the phenomenal
success of the music for "Canary Cottage,"
Feist has a fine catalog of operatic numbers.
HAWAIIAN CRAZE STILL ON
KANSAS CITY, MO., August 28.—C. S. Ege, mana-
ger of the sheet music department of the Wun-
derlich Piano Co., has received a large shipment
of ukuleles, which have been so popular with
Kansas City musicians during the summer. An-
other big hit with Kansas City people is the lat-
est Hawaiian song, "Yaaka'-Hula-Hickey-Dula."
Mr. Ege says that he is having difficulty in get-
ting enough of these to supply the demand, and
that other music stores have been unable as yet
to secure any of the songs.
NEW NUMBERJ>ELLING WELL
. The A. J. Stasny Co. report the song "There's
a B-urmah Girl A-.Calling," (In Burmah by the
Sea), one of the best selling numbers in their
catalog. The Philadelphia office of the above
company has had an exceptionally large call for
this number.
"THE GIRL FROJVIBRAZIL" OPENS
The opening of the new musical comedy"," "The
Girl from Brazil," which.was scheduled to open
under the management-of the Messrs. Shwbert
at the Forty-fourth Street Theatre on Monday
evening was postponed until Wednesday eve-

The new song by J. Keirn Brennan and Er-
nest R. Ball, "Turn Back the Universe and Give

numerous other songs by the same composers,
and is taking a place among the leading sellers
of the season.

Chas. K. Harris recently announced that all
his future publications would be tried out in
advance before being added to his catalog. Mr.
Harris now has ready for publication a new
number by Leo Woods and himself, called
"Black and White." Several songs in which
Mr. Harris has written the music to lyrics by
Leo Woods,, have been successful.

The old-fashioned, dreamy waltz will supplant
the acrobatic tango in the ballrooms of the
country if the National Association of Dancing
Masters has any influence. In their recent con-
vention, held last month in Chicago, with 400
members attending, the dance professors de-
creed the tango must go. The waltz, one-step
and fox trot will be the favorites this season.
MAKERS OF
NEW REMICK NUMBERS
One of the latest additions to the catalog of
Remick hits is "Old Brazil." This number is
said to be another "Underneath the Stars."
While being well received as a song it is also
an exceptionally good instrumental number.
"Mammy's Little Coal Black Rose" is a new
Southern song which Jerome H. Remick & Co.
announce is now ready for distribution. In this
season's catalog of Remick hits are numerous
numbers that are having large sales, giving the
Remick house one of the best catalogs of sea-
son hits it has ever had.
