THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
MREVIEWflEARS
THE OPPORTUNITY
There is eointr to he a larger demand than
ever for CENTURY EDITION this Fall and
Winter from regular customers and those who
will buy It for the first time. One of the rea-
sons is that the supply of German Editions
has been cut off by the war and the demand
for most of that music will be filled with
CENTURY EDITION and will continue to be
filled with CENTURY EDITION. It's the great
opportunity for the best in American music,
and CENTURY EDITION fills the bill.

NEW QUARTERS IN MONTREAL.
The Cowan Piano and Music Co., successor to
Clarkson & Cowan, has opened an attractive store
at 633 St. Catherine street W., Montreal, where it

Sherman Bros., sheet music and book dealers of
l.udiiigton, Mich., have dissolved partnership after
thirty-seven years of teamwork.
Another Big Waltz Ballad Success
By the Composer of
"ONE WONDERFUL NIGHT"
THAT if the confidence in the coming year on the
part of the music publishers has any basis in fact
there will be some records broken.
THAT The Review extends to its friends in the
trade the heartiest New Year greetings, with best
wishes for a most successful year.
THAT Teddy Morse has been back in town over
the holidays and is most enthusiastic regarding the
success of his song, "M-O-T-H-E-R" in the vari-
ous cities in which he has been appearing in vaude-
ville with George MacFarlane.
THAT the worm has finally turned, and Al Jolson,
the popular comedian, has threatened to take ac:ion
against those music publishers who place his pic-
ture on the title pages of songs which he does
not use.
THAT several very interesting changes among the
staffs of the various music publishing houses are
scheduled for the first of the year.
THAT in acquiring a private secretary Earl Car-
roll sets a new mark for which song writers may
aspire.
THAT Jack Maloy, of the Leo Feist professional
staff, has gone on the stage. He plays one of the
six instruments used in the piano number in "Stop.
Look, Listen," at the Globe Theatre.
THAT Walter Eastman, manager of Chappell &
Co., Ltd., New York, journeyed to Washington on
Monday of this week to witness the premiere of
"Sybil."

noted for its up-to-date displays of popular music,
and only recently won the prize from a prominent
publisher in a window display contest. Among
the features of the department is a separate space
provided with a table and chairs for the conve-
nience of music teachers in making their selections,
and the result has been the building up of an ex-
cellent trade in featuring music for publications
of the better class. The department is one of the
chain controlled by the American Music Stores.
