THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
Why Don't You? ThEREVIEWflEARS

of Authors, Composers and Publishers at its meet-
ing on Friday evening indicates that the demands

THAT it is a fact that several of the prominent

ciety's demands is an indication of their fairness.
THAT according to reports there has been little

October is likely to be the busiest month
musical New York has ever had. A number of
prominent singers and players who had intended
to tour Europe before coming to this country have
changed their plans and advanced their dates, and
there seems to foe an impression among them that
those first in the field will reap the richest har-
vest. In ordinary times, that would be wrong
reasoning; but this year many of those who usually
seek amusement abroad will be at home, and, if
sufficiently tempted, may buy tickets for concerts.
Yervant H. Maxudian, formerly manager for the
Auburn Music Co., in Ithaca, N. Y., has opened
a store on East Seneca street, that city, where he
will handle the Edison disc phonograph. .

delsso'hn Glee Club. It is entitled "The Winds."
Her part song, "Fair Daffodils," is on the pro-
gram of the Rubenstein Club this season. Here-
tofore Miss Bauer has been best known by her
solo songs, which have been sung the country
over by Schumann-Heink, Gadski, Alma Gluck,
Renaud, Griswold, Bispham and other prominent
vocalists. Two of her lyrics, "Coyote Song" and
"The Red Man's Requiem," bear witness to the
fact that she hails from the West. She has caught
the spirit of the South, too, in her "Up the Ockla-
waha," which was written for Maud Powell and
played by that great artist all over the country.
The eminent American composer, Arthur Foote,
described this as the most vivid piece of color in a
short violin number that he had ever heard.
