SUCCESS OF "THEJ>ONG OF SONGS."
Josie Collins Features New Ballad at Winter
Garden and Makes a Distinct Hit.
"The Song of Songs" (Chanson du Coeur Brise),
the latest European ballad success, with music by
Moya and English words by C'arence Lucas, has
been introduced with tremendous success in the
"Passing Show of 1914" by Josie Collins, one of the
stars of the production. At the first performance at
which Miss Collins featured the song she was com-
pelled to give encore after encore before the audi-
ence was satisfied. "The Song of Songs" is believed
by the publishers, Chappell & Co., Ltd., to be a gen-
uine successor to their other great success, "Just a
Little Love, a Little Kiss."

numbers in its class in the Witmark catalog of in-
strumental music.
"Humpty Dumpty" was written by Charley
Straight, composer of "Mocking Bird Rag," "Mis-
sissippi Lou'' and many other popular numbers, and
the music fits the somewhat quaint steps perfectly.

put back in stock at a considerable cost of time and
trouble. With the bound volumes convenient the
teacher has all the music right at hand and can se-
lect the number without any effort on the part of
the clerk. In such a case the music, once taken
from the stock, remains out, for it is sold. The

"Valse June" has been placed on its records by
the Victor Talking Machine Co., and Thos. A. Edi-

it is stated that over 10,000 bands and orchestras
