STRIKING WINDOW DISPLAY OF THE OLIVER DITSON CO. "HALF DOLLAR" MUSIC SERIES.
150 TREMONT STREET, BOSTON, MASS.
One of the noteworthy factors in the great and
growing business of the Oliver Ditson Co. in the
field of music publishing is the "Half-Dollar Musi*.
Series," a collection of the best that is offered in
standard music carefully arranged for the con-
sideration of cither the artist or the student and
offered at price that lias proven a tremendous at-
traction for music lovers.
The ''Half-Dollar
Series" owes its wonderful and increasing popu-
larity to the value offered and is far in excess of
the price asked, the music being selected with par-
ticular care from the enormous amount that ranks
as good and then arranged in a manner that makes

New Germ Which Is Busy These Days.

The following clever summary of the present
craze for the tango recently appeared in a musical
paper under the caption of ''Tangoitis":
"A contagious and catching complaint. As far
as scientists are able to discover, it originated in
South America some years ago. However, several
cases came to light in Europe, and it became an
epidemic which has spread to the United States of
America. The scientific and medical name of the
germ which spreads the malady is 'Amapa,' and it
seems to thrive best and is most prevalent in the
ballroom. Hence the name of the greatest tango
success. Therefore, if the germ 'Amapa' through
its contagion, spreads the malady 'tangoitis,' so the
contagious melody of 'Amapa' makes it the popular
'tango-it-is."
It may be mentioned that the 'Amapa' referred
to is published in the United States by Chappell &
Co., New York.'
