THAT the music publishers should take a leaf
from the book of the theatrical managers and put
out their unsuccessful songs for a second time
under new titles.
THAT it is a scheme that has served to pay pro-
ducing expenses of many a poor show.
THAT a writer on a theatrical paper has just
discovered that "Ich Ga Bibble" is simply the
phrase "I Should Worry" in the original.
• THAT according to the consular reports there is
is an excellent field for American ragtime in Cey-
lon, with numerous American pianos to play it on.
THAT the consul who forwards the information
neglects to state whether they are ten-cent stores
or cabarets on the island. Otherwise how could
the songs be boosted.
THAT several publishers of popular music have
discovered that a half dozen prize cups make a
fitting decoration for the windows of music
stores.
THAT the farce "Kiss Me Quick," which has
not proven a "riot" in its original form, will be re-
introduced to the public in the form of a musical
comedy.
THAT for about the twentieth time the coming
production of "Der Rosenkavalier" has been an-
nounced in this country.
THAT Louis Bernstein, head of Shapiro, Bern-
stein & Co., will shortly sail on a business trip to
Europe and will visit London, Berlin, Paris and the
other big cities in the interests of his company.
THAT in an interview in the Sunday World Chas.
K. Harris credits the present demand for ballads
of the sentimental and "weepy" nature to the
despondent condition of business men regarding
trade prospects.
THAT, upon taking that view of it, one pauses
to consider where the lyric writers got their in-
spirations.

Shuberts Secure English Production Rights to
Latest Work by the Authors and Composers
of "Adele"—To Be Produced Late This Year.
The Shuberts have obtained from Adolf Philipp,
the prominent German-American manager, the
English production rights to "The Midnight Girl,"
a new musical play by Paul Herve and music by'
Jean Briquet, and Adolf Philipp, the authors and
composers of "Alede," the musical comedy suc-
cess of the season.
The musical melange is in three acts, with a
tinge of Paris and with some scenes that are very
lively. The piece is full of excellent music and
much real comedy. It will be produced by tine
Shuberts about the holidays.
A NEW WITMARK NUMBER.
The latest addition to the catalog of M. Witmark
& Sons is a new Southern ditty of attractive melody
and clever lyric entitled "Dixie Days," which is
from the pen of Burt Fitzgibbon. Its march tempo
is distinctly of the whistling type. The song is
being used by a number of the prominent vaudc
ville acts.

Gabriel Pellissier Also Famous
Composer and Musician.
as a
Henri Gabriel Pellissier, famous in the theatrical
world as the founder of "The Follies" at the Em-
pire and as a composer and a musician, died in
London last week after a long illness.
As a youth Mr. Pellissier showed that his tend-
encies were for composing and theatrical work.
He composed many songs which became popular
whiJe still a young man and soon became a favor-
ite as an entertainer.
It was his idea to organize the "Follies," which
immediately became prominent in burlesque of
plays, pageants and events of the day, and made
his company one of the most popular in London
when it made its first appearance there in 1907.
The company first appeared at the Apollo and be-
came one of the features of the season. Besides
writing the songs, lyrics and plots for the various
productions Mr. Pellissier also designed the cos-
tumes and plays leading roles in the burlesques.

Trip and Will Attend Opening Performance
of New Joe Howard Show.
Meyer Cohen, manager for Chas. K, Harris, left
this week on an extended business trip through the
West. Mr. Cohen will attend the opening of Joe
Howard's new production, "The Broadway Honey-
moon," which opened in Racine, Wis., on Septem-
ber 30, and will then spend some time calling on
the trade in Chicago and other Western cities.
