The grandfather of the deceased, William Tway,
had taken part in many battles of the revolution,
notably the Bunker Hill, the Long Island cam-
paign and the siege of Yorktown. His father,
William G. Tway was for many years a well
known business man in the eastern district of
Brooklyn.
William F. Tway was a deacon of the Marcy
Avenue Baptist Church, where the funeral services
occurred en Monday evening, and was also a mem-
ber of Hyatt. Lodge, F. & A. M., and of the Phil-
adelphia Council Royal Arcanum. A widow and
brother survive him. The interment, which was
private, was in Greenwood Cemetery.

half has been in charge of the sales and advertis-
ing department of Weser Bros., New York, and
before that for two years with the publicity depart-
ment of Kohler & Campbell, has joined the forces

In his various positions Mr. Bauer has displayed
the greatest energy and ability, and has won the
esteem of all with whom he has come in contact.
That he will give a good account of himself in his
new sphere of operations goes without saying, for
this has been the history of his career since he be-
came connected with the music trade industry.
He has a wide knowledge of music trade conditions
throughout the country, and is well qualified by
knowledge and experience to fill his new position
with distinction. He has the best wishes of a host
of friends for his success.

enjoying a vacation in Canada.

resentative of the Milton Piano Co.—C.
E. Jarvis Will Cover the Eastern Territory.
President A. H. Kayton, of the Milton Piano
Co., announces that he has secured the services of
E. O'Grady, who for the past six years has been
representative of the Milton Co., starting on his
initial trip August 1, and will travel chiefly in the
Middle West territory.
Hereafter C. E. Jarvis, who has been represent-
ing the Miiton Co., generally, will confine his
efforts more to the Eastern section of the country.

Several piano houses are likely to be hit by the
forest fires which swept northern Michigan this
week. While there were not many piano agencies
in the small towns which were burned, there were
a good many pianos out on contract. What the
loss will be cannot even be conjectured, for some
of the instruments have only just been sold, while
others are almost paid for. In or.e case the loss
falls on the purchaser, in the other on the seller.
It is the purchaser's place to take out insurance
on the pianos. The piano houses do not do it,
for in many cases they would be paying consider-
able premium to protect a $10 or $20 equity, or no
equity at all if the purchaser should hurry his
payments. It is better to take a risk.
Grinnell Bros, have a large number of branch
stores in the northern part of ihe State, and from
these branches the towns devastated by the forest
fires were supplied with the pianos for which
Grinnells have the State agency, the Vose, Sohmer,
Stcinway, S'.erling and others, besides the Grinnell.
S. E. Clark, manager of the branch houses depart-
ment, gave it as a rough estimate that the firm had
lost about $5,000. The Grinnell store in Alpena
is not within the scorched district of the city.

The Proprietor of the Hotel Knickerbocker
Much Pleased with the Pianos Made by
Kohler & Campbell and Writes an Interest-
ing Letter.
James B. Regan, proprietor of the Hotel Knick-
erbocker, one of New York's famous hostelries, is
quite enthusiastic over the merits of the Kohler &
