"WALL STREET GIRL" FOR CHICAGO.
THAT "The Oceana Roll" seemed to be the na
tional song while the fleet was in port last week.
THAT it was some fleet and incidentally some
song.
THAT reports from the tomb of Verdi are to the
effect that great unrest is apparent.
THAT the reason seems to lie in the fact that a
sextet of instrumentalists in vaudeville are playing
"Miserere" from "II Trovatore" in ragtime.
THAT they evidently beat some popular song
writer to it.
THAT in one of the catalogs of music rolls for
player-pianos Harry von Tilzer is represented by
over fifty numbers.
THAT as the roll cutters only use the successful
songs, therein lies a record to be proud of.
THAT F. H. Burt's article on "The Selling of
Popular Music" is worthy of filing for future refer-
ence.
THAT though "The Enchantress" has been at the
New York Theater for only two weeks, Witmark
& Sons state that the first edition of the music
has been cleaned out.
THAT the leading sellers are "The Land of My
Own Romance," "All Your Own Am I" (cham-
pagne song), "Art Is Calling for Me" ("I Want
To Be a Prima Donna"), "If You Can't Be as
Happy as You'd Like To Be, Be Just as Happy
as You Can," and "Come, Little Fishes" (the gold
fish song).
THAT the Jerome & Schwartz Music Publishing
Co. are now settled down to business in the Broad-
way Theater building.
THAT Meyer Cohen, manager for Chas. K.
Harris, is now on a Western trip, with Chas. K.
in person looking after all departments at head-
quarters.
THAT E. T. Paull's latest march, "The Dashing
Cavalier," bids fair to break some sales records.
THAT Col. E. H. Goetting, of Springfield, Mass.,
was on the winning side this election.
THAT an injunction has been denied in the case
of Harris vs. Ted Snyder Music Publishing Co.
et al., and the suit will now come up for trial on
its merits.

(Special to The Review.)
Chicago, 111., Nov. 8, 1911.
Blanche Ring, in the successful musical comedy,
"The Wall Street Girl," written expressly for her
by Margaret Mayo and Edgar Selwyn, with lyrics
by Hapgood Burt and music by Karl Hoschna, :s
announced to appear in this city on November 12
for an indefinite run. "The Wall Street Girl" is
one of the newest and most successful musical
plays of the current season. Several of the songs
are already very popular. "I Want a Regular
Man" is the "hit" of the performance, although
several other numbers give it a close run. These
are "In Bad Man's Land," "In Old Wall Street,"
"When Love Flies in the Window," and "How
To Bring Up a Girl." Another good number is
"Men Are All Alike," while "On the Quiet," "The

vairous clients some interesting reading matter re-
garding that gentleman for use in their reading
columns. The article, which was well written, said
in part:
"No name is better known or more highly
valued in the world of so-called 'popular music'
than that of Edgar Selden, writer of that supreme
success 'All That I Ask of You Is Love'—a ballad
which, though only of comparatively recent publi-
cation, is to-day sung and played in every part of
the civilized globe, and which is of such admitted
worth that it is already regarded as a classic that
will endure for limitless time to come. Mr. Selden
is of likable disposition, thoughtful and unassum-
ing, with a kindly word for all. Seemingly his
gospel is that of consideration and helpfulness for
those with whom he comes in contact."
LISZT SONGS IN DEMAND.
Thirty Songs by Liszt is a timely addition to
Ditson's Musicians' Library. They are selected,
edited and annotated by Dr. Carl Ambruster, the
eminent pianist, conductor, and lecturer, who is at
present musical adviser of the London County
Council. Other new volumes in the Ditson series
are: Selected Piano Compositions of Schubert,
edited by August Spanuth; "One Hundred Folk-
Songs of All Nations," edited by Granville Ban-
tock, and Krehbiel's selection of Songs from the
Operas, for baritone and bass voices.

Gunsberg has written an opera, entitled "Ivan the
