THE VOSE PIANO
To the Trade: —
The Vose piano, originated by James W. Vose in 1851,
has been manufactured by this company or its predecessors
continuously for a period of nearly sixty years.
Hitherto no attempt has been made to interfere with our
trade name and the good will of our business, or to market
pianos
AS VOSE
which have not been manufactured in our factory and under
our direction.
It has been said that certain persons are likely to make
this attempt during the autumn. Suit has been brought to
enjoin the sale of such pianos as VOSE pianos. This suit,
necessarily suspended during the summer months, will be
prosecuted as promptly as possible in the autumn.
For the protection of the trade
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that any person, persons or corporations, selling or attempting
to sell,
AS VOSE PIANOS
any pianos other than those manufactured by this company,
founded by James W. Vose — the owner of the trade name of
VOSE and the good will of the VOSE business—will be
regarded liable therefor in the same manner as the defendants
in the pending suit.
We would suggest to such dealers as might be inclined
to purchase, AS A VOSE, a piano which they may have no
right to sell under that name, that they may find themselves
loaded with a stock which, not being able to sell AS VOSE,
they may find it difficult to sell at all.
