HAT the player-piano is a tremendous factor in the music trade world is admitted by all; and, it is
plain that any literature which treats specifically of the player will be of interest to thousands of
men who are selling player pianos.
Therefore, The Player Section, which appears as a new feature of The Review, without doubt
will be regarded with considerable interest.
It will be seen at a glance that The Player Section, which will be presented hereafter at regular inter-
vals, is decidedly an interesting adjunct to a music trade newspaper, and it is perhaps to be expected that
The Review should be first to incorporate such a feature in a regular issue of the publication.
This institution is generally conceded to be the player authority in the music trade, and by enlarging
our field of operations we at once make The Review of greater value to player manufacturers by creating
accentuated interest among the retail sales forces.
There must be a tremendous educational propaganda carried on to place the player piano where it
should be, and this institution proposes to do a considerable amount of work in this particular direction.
It might be well now and then to compare the work done in this special department of the music trade
industry by The Review with that of other publications.

Such an investigation will only serve to bring out in stronger light the efforts which we are putting
forth in the development and broadening of the player trade.
One thing, it is pretty well conceded to-day that when you desire anything in the player line you must
look to The Review!

We should be glad to receive criticism from rea lers •
We intend to do our level best on the player proposition to aid the dealer in his work; and we believe
that it will be universally admitted that it is desirable to obtain all the knowledge possible upon the player
subject, for, notwithstanding the marvelous rise of the player piano, its musical powers to-day are compara-
tively little understood and it will be necessary, when the player comes into its own, for the player pianist
to acquire a knowledge of how to produce the best results.

indifference and ignorance are foes to the player business, and it shall be the aim of The Player Sec-
tion to help the business in every legitimate manner, and dealers will find that this special department of
the paper will be beneficial as well to their clients.
It will help the player business all around.
