"The Arcadians," Charles Frohman's first
musical comedy production in America this sea-
son, was presented at the Liberty Theater, this
city, last Monday night, and repeated the suc-
cess which attended its opening presentations in
Philadelphia a few weeks ago. The piece has
already been duly reviewed in these columns.
It had the advantage in this city of being the
only new musical production offered at the open-
ing of the-week for the edification of the first-
nighters. It has had a long run at the Shaftes-
bury Theater, London, where it is still enjoying
great success. The story, in three acts, tells
of the invasion of the poetic land of Arcady by
a London hotel keeper, who has suddenly
dropped in among the Arcadians while they are
living in the simplicity of the Golden Age. The
music is published by Chappell & Co.

REVIEW
THE REVIEW MEARS
THAT there were never so many song hits in
existence as are now being offered the over-ready
professionals.
THAT as each new song is the biggest hit that
was ever sung in any act, it must follow that
none of the publishers need listen to such a song
as "Tie Your Little Bull Outside."
THAT "The King of Cadonia" and "Tillie's
Nightmare" are to join the fade-aways, with
"The Goddess of Liberty" seen dimly in advance.
THAT Jerome D. Kern begs to differ with some
of Alan Dale's pet opinions, and never did agree
with many of them, anyway.
THAT "The Jolly Bachelors" owes much to cer-
tain vaudeville methods, which, however, Is no
reason why it should not appeal as a good, swift
musical comedy, as it is.
THAT Chas. K. Harris had to pay cash for the
seats from which he watched the opening per-
formance of "The Prince of Bohemia," but just
managed to escape the speculators.
THAT he was busy all last Saturday answering
telephone calls of congratulation on having ob-
tained the publishing rights of so decided a suc-
cess.
THAT Egbert Van Alstyne and Harry H. Will-
iams, song writers, whose compositions are pub-
lished by Jerome H. Remick & Co., not only
"nibbled at vaudeville bait," but at the Colonial
this week seemed about to swallow line, hook and
sinker.
THAT the assertion that the new Skull Trouble
Club is, of course, a branch of the Ancient
Order of Boneheads, is untrue; at least, so says
Crawford, of Hammerstein's, known as Brother
Baldy Skull.
THAT if Sophie Tucker, singing "That Loving
Soul Kiss," published by the Jos. Morris Co., be-
lieves that making the audience gasp means suc-
cess, then she achieves that distinction.
THAT George W. Head, Jr., has recovered from
a cold which affected his vocal organs so seri-
ously last week that he could hardly appear in
print.
THAT Cecil Lean and Florence Holbrook, now
starring in "Bright Byes," are writing and com-
posing two new songs which they intend shall
rank with "Mrs Casey" and "Pan, Fan, Fan."
THAT Leo Feist's song feature, "Be Jolly,
Molly," is now the principal number of Mabel
McKinle'y's act, that singer having declared the
song to be a natural hit.
THAT Andreas Dippel says an opera by an
American composer, sung in English by Ameri-
can singers, is to be one of the features of the
Metropolitan Opera House season this year.
THAT Shapiro has opened new retail stores in
Cincinnati, Wilmington and Trenton.
THAT even if William Penn is determined to
build up the Laemmle business on Forty-second
street "just for spite," he is nevertheless deter-
mined to increase it.
