THE MUSIC TRADE! REVIEW
•"Chauncey Olcott, in his new piece, "Ragged
Robin," by Rida Johnson Young, and Rita Olcott,
opened his season at Saratoga, N. Y., August 14.
His songs, "Sweet Girl of My Dreams," "Laugh
With a Tear in It," "If You'll Remember Me,"
"Eyes That Come from Ireland" and "I Used to
Believe in Fairies," are each and every one of
them of exceptional excellence.
"The Alaskan," by Harry Girard and Joseph
Blethen, opens in Chicago, Sept. 20, for four
weeks and then goes on tour.
"That inimitable comedian, Richard Carle, who
is now playing a return engagement at the New
York Theatre, in his own piece, "Mary's Lamb,"
will go on the road at the conclusion of the en-
gagement of this play, which contains by far the
most popular numbers he has ever written.
"A few of the interpolated numbers published by
us are: "In Love's Bouquet" and "Take a Puff"
in "Fluffy Ruffles"; "Here's to the Girl," "Clemen-
tine" and "Queenie Was There With Her Hair in
a Braid," in "Girls of Gottenborg"; "When You
Steal a Kiss or Two," and "Take a Taxi," in "The
Girl Behind the Counter"; "Honey, Won't You
Please Come Down," in "Girls"; "Somebody's
Been Around Here Since I've Been Gone," in
"Gay White Way"; "Whistle If You Want Me,
Dear," "Teddy Te Turn Turn Tay," "Take Your
Hands Away," and "Alabama Sam," in "The Fol-
lies of 1907"; "Everybody Knows It's There," "In
Grandma's Day," "She Couldn't Keep Away From
the 10 Cent Store," "Zu Zu Man" and "No One
Loves a Fat Man," in "His Honor the Mayor."
"Among the big vaudeville acts booked solid
which are exclusively our publications, are: "The
Autophiends," "The Patriot," Jesse Lasky's "Love
Waltz," "A Night on a Houseboat," "George
Spink in "At the Country Club," "Floweiiand,"
"Birdland," "The Old Mill," and "Voodooland."
"Besides the above, the outlook for our popular
departments never was so bright, as a perusal of
the following will verify: In "Just Someone,"
Will Anderson has again struck it big, for this
beautiful little novelty number will, without
doubt, equal in sales, his famous "Tessie" song;
"As Long As the World Rolls On," Ernest R.
Ball's successor to "Love Me and the World is
Mine"; "Somebody Loves You, Dear," "Take Me
With You in your Dreams," "Just to Remind
You," "When Sweet Marie Was Sweet Sixteen,"
"Faded Rose," "You've Always Been the Same
Old Pal," "Gay Butterfly," "Every Star Falls in
Love with Its Mate," "Well, I Swan," "Boy
Who Stuttered and the Girl Who Lisped,"
"Take Your Hands Away," "She Couldn't
Keep Away from the Ten Cent Store,"
"The Party That Wrote Home, Sweet Home,
Never Was a Married Man," "Honey, Won't
You Please Come Down," "No One Loves a
Fat Man," "Wop, Wop, Wop," "Playing School,"
"Teddy-te-tum-tum-tay," "Every Star Falls in
Love With Its Mate," "In Grandma's Day,"
"Whistle If You Want Me, Dear," and "Sailor
Boy" are all meeting with enormous success.
"In a letter recently received from our London
house, concluded Mr. Witmark, we are told that
the last quarter's business has been the largest
in its existence, and as almost everybody over
there is crying hard times, this is encouraging.
"From what I've told you, I think that you'll
agree with me that we'll have our hands full,
but if the work before us were twice as great,
we'd be prepared with our excellent organization
to thoroughly cope with the situation."
