ALFRED DOLGE HOMEWARD BOUND.
Well Pleased With the Results of His Trip.
(Special to The Revletf.)
Cincinnati, 0., Oct. 9, 1904.
Alfred Dolge, who has been visiting a number
of western points, was in Cincinnati for the last
two days, and from here will journey homeward
to the Pacific coast. He will not visit New York
on this trip as he feels that the eastern territory
will be splendidly looked after by Mr. L. Cavalli,
who was recently appointed to look after the in-
terests of that section by the Alfred Dolge Mfg.
Co., of Dolgeville, Cal. Mr. Dolge expressed him-
self well pleased with the result of his trip and
was much gratified at the welcome given Mr.
Cavalli.
In the course of a conversation, Mr. Dolge said:
"Since I shall make, or rather am making only
the highest grade felt we expect to get liberal
support from the trade. We are moving slowly.
I, personally, am most appreciative of the confi-
dence reposed in me, and look forward to a con-
tinuation of this support which we will aim to
thoroughly merit in every way.

New Brunswick.
(Special to The Review.)
New Brunswick, N. J., Oct. 10, 1904.
Alexander Mullen, of New York, and Frederick
Wendt, of Erie, Pa., comprising the firm of Mul-
len & Wendt, have located in the three-story fac-
tory building on Burnett street this city, where
they intend to manufacture pianos cases. They
are negotiating with the New Brunswick Sav-
ings Institution which holds a large mortgage on
the property. The new firm will take hold at
once and from fifteen to twenty men will be em-
ployed a t the store, which number will be in-
creased later. Mr. Mullen was with the well-
known house of J. & C. Fischer, of New York, for
many years.

ment and with absolutely no lifting. Dealers
would do well to write this company and get
prices and details regarding their truck which
has won the highest commendation from leading
houses in all parts of the United States.
THE TOWSLEY MACHINES
Are Labor and Money Savers for Piano and
Organ Manufacturers.
In another part of this paper will be found a
page advertisement of the John T. Towsley Mfg.
Co., Cincinnati, O., which should interest manu-
facturers desirous of placing in their factories the
most approved equipment for the manufacture of
pianos. The Towsley machines have an inter-
national reputation for excellence and they are
now used by some of the leading and most prog-
ressive institutions in this industry. They are
sold at prices which insure big profit for the user
which, after all, is a most important considera-
tion.

should not only have a fixed aim or purpose, but
we should strive and energize ourselves to reach
it. No man or woman ever succeeded or achieved

Chicago, 111., Oct. 11, 1904.
Western prosperity found its reflex Saturday in
the statement of the Chicago Clearing House As-
sociation, showing the clearings of local banks
for the week at $206,985,354, the highest figure
on record. Chicago banking business of recent
years has been increasing steadily.
There are several reasonable causes for the in-
crease, among others the flow of money to the
agricultural districts to move the crops. Grain
and stock speculation has been a small factor.
Possibly the sale of city bonds in the early part
of the week may have been a leading cause.
The Wasle actions, noted for their elasticity,
responsiveness and durability, are evidently in
high favor with the Wasle patrons. The full fa-
cilities of the big Wasle factory at Brown's Place
and Southern Boulevard, have been utilized daily
at all seasons ever since the building was taken
over by the firm. "We do not know what it
means to have a slack time," said one of the firm
member to The Review. "Week in and week out
we are busy, with enough to do on actual orders
to keep the entire force actively engaged."

Machines—
The "Softertone" attachment and needles for
Victor exhibition and concert Columbia and Zono
phone sound boxes, sold by the Victor Distribut-
ing & Export Co., 77 Chambers street, are largely
in request for use in rooms and apartments too
small for a comfortable hearing of the "loud"
compositions such as orchestral selections. The
"Softertone" needles, intended to reduce the
overtones, do their work effectively yet bring our
every detail and shade of tone in any record.
These needles are found to be exceedingly use-
ful in the study of music. The ear may be
placed close to the horn and any part of the rec-
ord may be repeated many times without chang-
ing the needle or injuring the record. In the an-
nouncement recently published it is pointed out
that Softertone needles may be placed on the
same or different records at least six times with-
out injury to the record—in fact a record will
last three times as long when a Softertone needle
is used.
