Music Books in a Foreign Language are so Defined
by the General Appraisers of the United States.
The United States General Appraisers
support the protests of the firm of Carl
Guttman & Co., of New York against the
decision of the Collector of Customs in clas-
sifying as dutiable at the rate of 25 per cent,
ad valorem, under paragraph* 403, certain
music books printed in foreign languages.
The protestants claimed that the books were
exempt under paragraph 502, which ex-
empts from duty "books and pamphlets
printed exclusively in language other than
English."
