THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
us and we will be pleased to take the matter
up with you at once. Put a few Waldos in
stock beside your other goods and watch
results. You will find these instruments sell,
and there will be no shop-worn stock. This
is where your money comes in. Is not the
experiment worth trying? If we were not
satisfied that it would be a paying deal for
you we would not be taking up your time
now with this letter, and a few dollars in-
vested will prove our assertions. You cannot
lose anyhow, and if we are right, you win.
Your best trade will appreciate the Wal-
dos; then if you want a line of goods for
a close second, but considerably cheaper in
price, you need not go elsewhere, as we make
thousands of all grades of instruments and
invite comparison of goods and prices at all
times. If you have our catalogue, send in
your order now; if not, drop us a line and
you will receive it promptly with quotations.
Very truly,
Waldo Manufacturing Co.,

DEATH OF HENRY GAUTSCHI.
[Special to The Review.]
Philadelphia, Sept. 9, 1901.
Henry Gautschi, the well-known dealer in
musical instruments at 1030 Chestnut street,
who was shot by his son-in-law, Jacob Pes-
sendorfer, on the Bethlehem turnpike last
Wednesday, died to-day. Pcssendorfer was
arraigned and held without bail for murder.
Physicians took a great interest in Gautschi's
condition, as a bullet had passed through
his stomach, and the injury seemed almost
exactly like that from which the President
is suffering. In Gautschi's case the physi-
cians and newspapers announced definitely
last Saturday that he would live.

BAY STATE POPULARITY.
The Review has had occasion more than
once to note the steadily-growing popularity
of the "Bay State" string instruments and
other musical products. After a careful
scrutiny of the various instruments bearing
that now world-famed name, "Bay State,"
it is easy to understand why the demand
increases.
The guitars, mandolins and banjos, like
all others turned out of the Haynes factory
at Boston, fail to show, on critical examina-
tion, a single flaw, defect or omission. They
are absolutely perfect in every particular.
Thus it happens that they invariably yield
the maximum of good results in the hands
of competent players.
