THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
CHAMBERS IN GREAT DEMAND. H
W. Paris Chambers, the soloist of the
Seventy-first Regiment Band, who has been
delighting Exposition visitors for the past
five weeks, returned to town on Monday.
He has been engaged by the Exposition
management to return to Buffalo for July
and August as cornet soloist with the great
organ recitals in the Temple of Music.
Of Mr. Chambers' stay in Buffalo the
Evening News, of that city, says:
"Mr. Chambers' work during the time of
the engagement of the band with which
he is connected has attracted the attention
and admiration of the best musical con-
noisseurs. He is regarded by the critics
as one of the greatest of performers on the
cornet, since he plays with all the power
of the accomplished professional and adds
elements of virtuosity that are beyond the
command of most of his rivals.
"His range of expression extends through
five octaves, or more than double the usual
power of cornet players. He is not only
an artist of supreme excellence, but is also
a composer of high reputation and grow-
ing fame. . The brilliant compositions that
have given Mr. Chambers much of his
tinction are of his own writing. The 'Voce
de Gabriel,' so much applauded during the
present engagement of Mr. Chambers, was
written by himself expressly to show his
range and power, and is beyond the capa-
city of more than a few cornetists in the
whole country."
