Achieved a Tremendous Success at the Day-
ton, O., riusic Festival— Admired by Ar-
tists, Press and Public.
*
A magnificent Sohmer concert grand
piano was used in connection with the Day-
ton, O., Music Festival held in that city
April 9, 10, I I and 12. It was played by
a number of eminent artists and won from
them tributes of the most Mattering kind
regarding its sonorify, quality of tone, and
general all-round excellence.
The local
press also took occasion to refer to the Soh-
mer grand in the most enthusiastic terms,
while the critical audience who heard the
Sohmer tested were most demonstrative in
their appreciation of its musical merits.
The Sohmer used was one of the new scale
grands, which have been so much admired re-
cently. It marks a distinct advance in grand
making, and is a revelation to those who
have not kept in touch with the progress of
piano making in the United States, particu-
larly in the department of grands.
It is the policy of Sohmer & Co. to always
allow their instruments to speak for them-
selves, hence it is we never hear of flam-
boyant statements made regarding Sohmer
accomplishments in the domain of piano man-
ufacture, and yet they are persistently work-
ing and striving to make the Sohmer a great-
er instrument than ever.
That they have succeeded is obvious to all
who have examined and tested the modern
Sohmer, whether in grands or uprights.
New scales, new improvements, 20th cen-
tury architecture—in fact, there is unceasing
activity in every department of the Sohmer
institution, all tending to a greater perfection
of their instruments.
Sohmer & Co. are to be congratulated on
the success achieved at the Dayton festival,
which is destined to be duplicated wherever
the Sohmer grand is heard.
Horace F. Brown, of Behr Bros., started
out on a brief Eastern trip early in the week.

reports.
