William F. Hasse told The Review on
Wednesday that he has succeeded in pur-
chasing 5,0.00 yards of exceptionally fine
velours for scarfs. The printed designs,
in six colors, are, he declares, the finest he
ever handled. Prices will be marvellous-
ly low. The Review was invited to inspect
these velours and found them quite up to
the high standard of Hasse's supplies. The
designs are tasteful and the effects produced,
in scarf shape, are exceedingly attractive.
Mr. Hasse announces that he will send a
sample scarf, with clippings of various
colors, for inspection, expressage paid, to
dealers who are on the alert for select
goods at the right figures. Geo. Baker,
Jr., the Hasse traveling representative,
has just returned from a successful trip
and will start off again in a few days.

The Master-key that unlocks
the gates of Melody for all!
August Anderson, an employee of the
Estey Organ Co., on receiving his pay
several weeks ago, accidentally let the en-
velope, which still contained two twenty-
dollar bills, fall into the fire. The ashes
were collected and sent to the treasury de-
partment to see if they could be redeemed.
An answer has been received, saying that
one bill was destroyed beyond recognition,
but of the other enough could be made out
to see it was a $20 bill and the amount was
returned.

A prominent veneer man speaking to
The Review this week, said that the past
year has demonstrated that among the
most popular woods now in demand for
piano and furniture generally, is the genu-
ine San Domingo mahogany. He said:
"Not only is the color and texture of the
wood particularly fine, but it possesses
all the qualities that manufacturers are
anxious to obtain. It is not brittle, while
it is hard without being flinty, and it bends
better than any other variety of mahogany.
When we can say in addition that in com-
parison with other varieties of mahogany it
is the lowest priced wood in the market,
it is hardly necessary to look about for
other reasons for its popularity."
