The " Steinway Co."
The incorporation of the " Steinway Co."
announced in The Review last week, has
occasioned considerable surprise and much
comment, as many believe that the incor-
poration of such a concern has the ear
marks of an attempt to trade upon the
great Steinway name.
Chas. H. Steinway, president of Stein-
way & Sons said when The Review called
upon him for a statement in regard to this
matter: " I have to say only that we are
causing a thorough investigation to be
made and you may rest assured that we
propose to protect our interests thoroughly
in this matter. A million dollars has been
spent in advertising the Steinway name,
and it would be folly not to protect such a
valuable piece of property."
The Review called upon Paul Weilbacher,
Jr., one of the incorporators of the new
Steinway Co. and asked for some partic-
ulars.
" I t has been said that Henry Steinway
is interested in your company. Is that
true ? " Mr. Weilbacher was asked.
" I am not at liberty to say anything
about it," was the reply. " In due course,
when matters are settled definitely, I sup-
pose the press will be informed.
"Where will the ' Steinway Company '
factory be located?"
" I am not at liberty to say just at pre-
sent."
" Will Henry Steinway be connected
with the company in any way? "
" I am not at liberty to say."
" Is it true that the ' Steinway Company'
has been incorporated in New Jersey, with
$50,000 capital? "
"Yes.
That is true, but many details
have to be settled before we can make any
announcement."
Proofs of Prosperity.
To be added to the pile of evidence put
forth concerning the prosperity of the
United States, comes the report of postal
returns for March, largely in excess of any
month since 1893. For some time after
the late election the increase in postal re-
ceipts was much more marked in the
eastern cities than in those of the West or
South. Now, however, the West and the
South compare favorably with the East,
which may be taken as a sign that the
business revival is widespread.

The new Krakauer case factory is now
in proper working order, and with the in-

Even at this rate, it is found difficult,—
sometimes impossible— to keep pace with
current orders.
Work is now in progress on ' the new

that all improvements will be completed,
