An unselfish companion that caters to your every mood untir-
ingly. It is never out of tune, and being simple and strong in
construction, is not apt to be troublesome. The music is ob-
tained from highly tempered steel combs, and each melody is
stamped on metal tune discs, which are practically indestructi-
ble. Our arrangements of music are as near perfection as the
greatest skill and unlimited experience can make them fin
mechanical instruments.

THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
"Traveling Salesman" Construed
A decision of general interest to all travel-
ing men was handed down this week by the
Court of Appeals, in the suit of Chas. Bloom
against the Cox Shoe Manufacturing Co. for
breach of a written contract of service. A
judgment was recovered by Bloom in the
Supreme Court, was upheld on appeal and is
now upheld again on the defendant's further
appeal. Bloom, who was employed as travel-
ing salesman, at a yearly salary of $1,800,
was discharged because he refused to drum
for trade in New York and Brooklyn. He
contended that as the principal business of-
fice of the defendant was in New York City
the term "traveling salesman" implied the
sale of goods by him outside of these two
cities. The company insisted that the con-
tract obligated him to sell goods wherever
they might direct him to go in the United
States. Evidence was given on both sides as
to the alleged custom in the trade of con-
struing the words "traveling salesman." The
Court of Appeals decides, by Judge Haight,
that in such case it was proper for the court
to leave to the jury the question as to the
meaning of the controverted words in the
light of any custom that, in their judgment,
might have been established. The defend-
ants having contended that the plaintiff's sales
were so small in comparison with his salary
that he must be regarded incompetent as a
salesman, the instruction of the Court to the
jury that, if the employee honestly en-
deavored to make sales and did not succeed
it was one of the risks the employer took in
selling goods over the country, was held to
be proper.

Bothner Business Brisk.
SELF-CONTROLLINQ
George Bothner reports business as very
good, and prospects excel L-'.it for a long con-
tinuance of active work. Mr. Bothner is one
of the men who do not believe in sitting down
to wait for new customers to call with orders.
He gets out and sees people, tells them
what he is doing and how he is doing it. In
the factory he is continually on the move
supervising and setting the men a good ex-
ample of intelligent industry. There is a
big future in store for the Bothner products.
Baumeister Piano.
Among the best sellers now on the market
is the new Baumeister style C. Charles Bau-
meister is very proud of this instrument. The
design and construction, each highly credit-
able, are his own, and is more than pleased
to find his efforts appreciated.
The steady growth of the Baumeister pro-
ducts since the establishment of the firm is
due entirely to conscientious work, well
supervised in every department, and reason-
able prices.
