A BILL has been introduced into the House of
Representatives to incorporate the American
College of Musicians. The bill provides for the
creation of an institution to be known by title
mentioned above to be located in Washington,
D. C.
C. L. WHEELER'S New Music Store, Little
Falls, N. Y., will move April 15th to his new
building on West Main street.
J. A. BOLENDER has sold his interest in the
music store at Circleville, O., to C. F. Seitz, his
partner, and has taken a position as a travelling
salesman with E. S. Jaffrey & Co. of New York.
RUSSELL
W. N. WARFORD, formerly with Goggan
Bros., at Dallas, Texas, is now connected with
the Memphis house of D. H. Baldwin.
MAJOR WILLIAM NEVANS, one of the veteran
(Successors to STARK & STRACK.)
PIANOS
MANUFACTURED BY
Ros. 171 and 173 South Canal Street,
Presto suggests that the New York World
follow up its investigations and exposes of
" family " sales of pianos, furniture, etc., by
sending a representative to the residences 215 East
31st street, 109 East 55th street, 226 East 33d
street and 108 East 84th street. Coming so
close after Brother Abbott's visit to New York
the above looks mighty suspicious.
DR. C. H. WAGNER has resigned his position
AN orchestra has been formed at Fogelsville,
Pa., with F. H. Kuder, P. P. Mohr and other
members.
Jos. ROGERS, J R . , drum and banjo head manu-
facturer, Highview, N. Y., will erect a fine resi-
dence here.
MR. GEO. C. ADAMS,
of The McCammon Piano
Co., will depart this week on a Western trip of
about two months. Look out for a Western
deal in which the " McCammon " will take a
leading part. The new style 7 McCammon is
having a great " boom. "
ROBERT PRODDOW, the very popular treasurer
ot the Estey Piano Company, is making his
annual tour in the interest of that Company.
He spent some days in Chicago last week, and
reports a marked improvement in business all
along the line. A greater feeling of confidence
is observable, and a slow but positive progress
toward better times is evident.
the statement which made
its way throughout the trade that Jacob Christie,
well known as manufacturer, and later as super-
intendent of the Colby Piano Co., would enter
the field of piano manufacturing. It was not to
be. Mr. Christie believes in giving the younger
men a chance, and he has puichased a farm near
Eiie, where he will spend the balance of his life
free from the care and responsibility of piano
nianufactuiing.
CHICAGO.
THE
Sterling Company,
MR. OTTO L. BRAUMULLER, of the Braumuller
Co., made a trip out West as far as Chicago last
week. He took in several cities en route, and
seems very satisfied with the outlook for his
house.
THE W. W. Kimball Co. made a shipment
recently of a fine assortment of Kimball pianos
to the Constantinople house of Costikyan Bro-
thers.
MR. WILLIAM E. WHEELOCK was in Chicago
last week. His visit has not a little to do with
the extension and pushing of the splendid styles
of Weber ins'.ruments which are now being
placed on the market. The Weber No. 9 is truly
a beauty, and deserves all the kind things tKat
are said of it.
NOVELLO, EWER & Co. are the agents in this
country for the vocal score and piano arrange-
ment of Gilbert & Sullivan's new opera,
'' Utopia Limited.''

G. A. SCHMIDT and H. Hoernigsh^rg, two
piano makers from Milwaukee, Wis., are nego-
tiating with some parties from Winona, Minn.,

couragement,
band masters of this country, died at his home
in Chicago, March 27th. Mr. Nevans was born
in Brooklyn, and since his tenth year has been
mixed up with bands. He served through the
Mexican and civil wars. He located in Chicago
a quarter of a century ago, and has since been
one of the prominent figures in the musical life
of the West.
V. J. ISON has started into the manufacturing
of piano actions at Oregon, 111. He has ample
facilities and expects a good support from the
Western houses.
HOCKETT BROS. & PUNTKNNEY of Columbus
have opened up a music store at Circleville, O.
as general manager of the Schimmel-Nelson
Piano Co., Faribault, Minn., owing to its inter-
ference with his professional duties. H. C.
Theopold was elected by the directors to fill the
vacancy, and resolutions of regret were tendered
to Dr. Wagner.
THE Waterloo Organ Co. are finding business
in good shape just now. Their full force of men
are at work, and better still, the old time demand
is evident. Malcolm Love, the energetic mana-
ger of the Company, expects an active business
up to and during the summer. The Malcolm
Love piano is winning new customers day after
day, and the manufacturers are paying close
attention to exterior and interior improvements
which will make this instrument a greater favor-
ite than ever before.
Pianos and Organs,
DERBY, CONN.
It is admitted by all that no piano ever put upon the
market has met with such success as THE STERLING
and thousands will testify to their superiority of work-
manship and durability. Why ? Because they are made
just as perfect as a piano can be made.
THE STERLING ORGAN has always taken the lead, and
the improvements made this year puts it far ahead oi
all others. 10^* Send for Catalogue.
Halleti Davis Pianos
The "Crown" Piano.
"When Music, heavenly maid was young, "
She woke the echoes with her song,
The beasts and birds enraptured hung,
While hills and vales the notes prolong.
But now, O joy ! an earthly maid
Can charm us thro' her finger tips.
The " Crown " piano deftly played
All others must in time eclipse.
So pure, so sweet, so rich in tone,
Some Solon should a word invent,
A score of adjectives in one,
To tell the world how excellent,
How unsurpassed the model shown,
The " Crown " Piano stands alone.
GRAND, SQUARE AND UPRIGHT.
Indorsed by Liszt, Gottschalk, Wehli, Bendel, Straus, Soro, Abt,
Paulus, Titiens, Heilbron and Germany's Greatest Masters.
Established over Half a Century.
