MARTIN GUITARS
Manufactured by C. F. Martin & Co.
THE ONLY RELIABLE
1892.
CONNECTION WITH ANY OTHER HOUSE OF THE SAME NAME.-**
For over fifty years the MARTIN GUITARS were and are still the only reliable instruments used by all first-class Professors and Amateurs throughout the
country. They enjoy a world-wide reputation, and testimonials could be added from the best Solo players ever known, such as
Madame DE GONI,
Mr. WM. SCHUBERT,
Mr. S. DE LA COVA,
Mr. H. WORRELL,
Mr. N. J. LEPKOWSKI,
Mr J. P. COUPA,
Mr. FERRER,
Mr. CHAS. DE JANON,
Mr. N. W. GOULD,
and many others,
but deem it unnecessary to do so, as the public is well aware of the superior merits of the Martin Guitars. Parties have in vain tried to imitate them, not only here in the
United States, but also in Europe. They still stand this day without a rival, notwithstanding all attempts to puff up inferior aud unreliable guitars.

UTICA, N . Y., NOV. 29,
1892.
EDITOR T H E MUSIC TRADE REVIEW :
I offered to dedicate a forthcoming volume
entitled " Observations of a Musician," (essays
of general interest on music) to my illustrious
friend, Massenet, perhaps the most celebrated
living operatic composer.
To-day I received the following letter, which
might interest your readers, since the question
of his coming to America is yet an open one.
The letter is in French :
MONSIEUR IyOuis LOMBARD,
Director Utica Conservatory of Music.
MY DEAR
CONFRERE AND FRIEND :
promise ten months ahead—to watch anxiously
in the dread of breaking my word. Thanks
again.
Sincerely yours,
J. MA99ENET.
Paris, Nov. 17, '92.
Very respectfully,
I am
touched by your attention and dedication.
My most cherished desire is to come for the
Exhibition. I have been invited officially, and
I have not known how to answer positively—to

High Grade Instruments only. Piano cased organs a specialty. The accom-

UPRIGHT GRAND PIANO ORGAN.
This beautiful piano model is certainly the acme of perfection and stands pre-
eminent above all competitors without a known peer in the world.
THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND.
Beautiful in design, unequaled in quality of tone and finish, and unsurpassed
in solidity of construction. Full piano size and proportion, piano finish, piano
pedal, continuous hinge on lock-board, piano music rack, piano frets of the latest
design of tracings, hand carved piano trusses, etc., and unlike all other piano
cased organs on the market, has the most perfect stop-action. The lock-board is
made in two sections, the first section folding back and laying in the second
section, in which position the instrument presents a piano appearance. By a
second motion the second section is slightly --aised, and swinging back under the
upper front brings the stop-action into prominence. We have also many beautiful
and artistic designs in high top styles that are unsurpassed by any manufacturer
in the world. Correspondence solicited. Catalogues mailed on application.
Address all correspondence direct to the manufacturers. Special inducements
offered to all foreign trade. Sample instruments sent on approval, and guaranteed
to be up to the highest standard. All instruments warranted for six years.
