In the new catalogue is included a list of the firm's
general distributing agencies in eighteen of the princi-
pal cities of the United States, and in Sydney (Austra-
lia), London (England), and Leipzig (Germany).
The Wilcox & White Company have enjoyed thir-
teen years of great and unmitigated prosperity. Their
products are known and praised in every civilized
country in the world. The dissemination of the pres-
ent catalogue cannot fail to add to their already vast
and gigantic business.
CHADWICK & MERRIAM.
STEADILY PROGRESSIVE.
T
HE gradual advances made by the firm of Chad-
wick & Merriam, manufacturers of piano and
organ stools, scarfs, taborets, music cabinets,
etc., South Acton, Mass., are among the best evidences
of the ability and trustworthiness of that house.
For some years past these practical business men
have, at intervals of a few months, found it necessary
to enlarge their factory facilities in order to meet with
reasonable dispatch the increasing demands upon them.
At the present moment they have so many more orders
on hand and in prospect than has been usual with (hem
at this time ot the year that they are about to put in
an additional boiler and a larger engine. Considering
the general complaints of "dull times" we think that
Messrs. Chadwick & Merriam deserve to be congratu-
lated.
Their increasing prosperity is but the natural out-
come of the able and conscientious execution of all
work entrusted to them. They are not given to vain-
glorious boasting or self-aggrandisement. By their
works they are known, and the trade's knowledge of
them is becoming greater and more satisfactory year
by year.

THE DRUMMER GOT LOST.
The Alvord k Spear MTg Co.
A
SCOTCH story is that of a diminutive drummer
in a local brass band, who was in the habit>
when out parading with his comrades, of walk-
ing by sound and not by sight, owing to his drum being
so high that he was unable to see over it. The band,
on Saturday afternoons, paraded usually in one direc-
tion, but Jhe other day the leader thought he would
change the route a little, and turned down a by street.
The drummer, unaware of this movement, kept on his
accustomed way, drumming as hard as ever he could.
By and by, after finishing his part, and not hearing the
others, he stopped, and, pushing his drum aside, he
looked to see what was the matter. His astonishment
may be imagined at finding that he was alone. " Mae !"
he cried to some bystanders, " has ony o' ye seen a
band hereaboot ?"—Musical Record,
