THE McCammon Pianoforte Company, Albany, N. Y.,
are flourishing. Mr. E. McCammon has just completed
an extensive business tour, in which he met with great
success among the firm's agents and dealers generally,
having received orders for nearly a thousand pianos.
G. O'CONOR, manufacturer and carver of piano legs,
lyres, and pilasters, 510 & 512 West Thirty-fifth street,
New York city, is overwhelmed with orders. The ex-
cellence of the work done by Mr. O'Conor is recognized
and appreciated throughout the trade.
THERE is no limit to the enterprise of the Sterling
Company, Derby, Conn. Two of their pianos have
been cased up for shipment to Tegucigalpa, Central^
America. During the last week they dispatched some
large orders for organs to Liverpool, London, and
Glasgow.
THE organs manufactured by the Clough & Warren
Company, Detroit, Mich., furnished with the reed and
pipe combination, are superb instruments. The elec-
tric motors by means of which they are operated are
claimed to be the most simple and effective attachments
ever invented for the purpose. This firm are also mak-
ing distinct headway as piano makers.
MR. WILLIAM STEINWAY has presented a $1,500 piano
to the Isabella Heimath, the charitable institution
erected at 190th and 191st streets, N. Y., and presented
to that city by Mr. Oswald Ottendorfer.

JACK HAYNES, N. Y., returned this week from a very
successful trip through Tennessee, Georgia, the Caro-
linas, and other Southern States, during which he es-
tablished several new agencies for the James M. Starr
& Co. (Richmond, Ind.) pianos, and the Newman
Brothers (Chicago, 111.) organs. Mr. Haynes reports
that since the last-mentioned firm moved into their new

quickly.

the " Opera" piano of Peek & Son, N. Y, According
to its advertisement, this instrument is determined to
get West ahead of the sun. Peek & Son were always
early risers,
THE under veneers of C. H. O. Houghton, No. 1
West Fourteenth street, N. Y., are in great general de-
mand. They are just what the trade wanted.
BEHR BROTHERS & Co's pianos maintain an undimin-
ished prestige. This firm have just patented another
invention, the effect of which is to purify the tone and
make it more even throughout the scale. Verily the
name of Behr is exalted among piano makers.
THE following prayer was recently composed by a
Reclaimer against the iniquities of current musical criti-
cism : " O Father of all things, of Art as well as journal-
ism, how much longer is this community to be disgraced
by such incompetent dunces as are now permitted to
abuse what is worthy, and to publish falsehoods when
their interests command it ? " We now await the prayer
of the incompetent dunces.—Musical Times.
C. H. HENNING'S piano factory at No.- j^h East
Eleventh street, N. Y., presents an animated scene. It
is with the utmost difficulty that Mr. Ilenning can fill
orders. His pianos are rapidly coming to the front
Hardly a week passes in which he is not called upon to
assign territory. He conducts his business in a thorough,
quiet way, and is " getting there " with a vengeance.
CHARLES N. ROMATNE, of the veneer manufacturing
house of Romaine Bros. & Mannie, Petersburg, Va.,

manner their powers of ministering to the cultured and
refined. .

" MONEY," says Presto, " has been referred to as the
root of all evil." By whom ? " The love of money is
the root of all evil," says Timothy (I Tim., VI. ID), but
that is a very different thing. Our esteem for our con-
temporaries leads us to impress upon them the necessity
and value of accuracy.
