ANOTHER new catalogue is that of The New England
Organ Company, Boston, Mass., who have, as our
readers know, assumed control of the manufacture of
the celebrated Woodward & Brown, and also of the favor-
ite Lawrence & Son pianos. The newly published work
contains handsome cuts of style 7 upright Woodward
& Brown, and style 6 upright and style 8 baby grand
Lawrence & Son pianos; also of the splendidly designed
New England organ (case 130) in which are placed the
undermentioned combinations, .viz., styles ?, 13, 15. if),
P, E, F, and G. In regard to their pianos, the com-
pany are introducing several new features in the way
of rare wood finish. They are also continuing the busi-
ness of making pianos from special designs, and to
special order. The New England organs give universal
satisfaction. Dealers will find it convenient and advan-
tageous to procure, the Company's regular illustrated
organ catalogue.
N E W warerooms have been opened at No. 43 Pler.s-
ant street, Worcester, Mass., by Lucius Merrifield, who
represents the New England organs and Vose & Sons'
pianos. With a merry field located in a pleasant street

shattered a beam of the roof and darted around the
building. All of the workmen in the factory felt the
shock, the engineer, who was in the basement, being
stunned. Strange to say. with the exception of the
shattered roof-beam no trace of the progress of the
lightning is visible.

order for five car loads of organs for Australia. Their
instruments have been represented in Melbourne and
Sydney for the past fifteen years and are firmly estab-
lished as public favorites. Clough & Warren Organ
Co. are also in receipt of an order for nine organs from
their Shanghai Agency. Their trade in China and
Japan is steadily increasing.

T H E death of Oscar Laffert, the celebrated musician
and music trade journalist of Breslau, Germany, is an-
nounced. He was a man of great and broad culture,
and a distinguished authority upon the piano business.
T H E marriage of Mr. Alexander Steinert, head of the
Boston (Mass.) branch of M. Steinert & Sons, and sec-
ond son of M. Steinert, to Miss Bessie Shuman, daugh-
ter of Abraham Shuman of Boston, took place in that
city on the evening of the 6th inst. Henry Steinert
of Cincinnati acted as groomsman. The happy pair will
spend three months on the Pacific Coast. The wedding
was a magnificent one, and was attended by a great
number of distinguished guests, including Governor and
Mrs. Oliver Ames, Mr. and Mrs. William Steinway, New
York, Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Shoninger, New Haven, Conn.,
John Boyle O'Reilly, etc., etc.
