MR. PECK, of Hard man, Peck & Co., New York,
has been confined to his house for several days with
a very painful sprained ankle.
T. L. NEWPORT, employed by F. R. Glrard, Oak-
land, Cal., was sentenced on June 15th, to eighteen
months imprisionment for embezzlement.
CHARLES DECKER, of Decker Bros., New York, is
rapidly improving in health at Poland, Me.
THE MONROE ORGAN REED CO., Worcester, Mass.,
have engaged Paul Pferdner, a salesman with Julius
Bauer & Co., Chicago, to represent their goods in all
the Territories, the States of Colorado, California,
Nevada, Oregon ami the Province of British Colum-
bia. Julius auer & Co. have taken the agency for
the "Bijou" orchestrone for the North-west, South
west and Pacific Coast.
THB B. SHONINGER CO., New Haven, Conn., have
just printed a large number of handsome lithographs
for distribution among their dealers.

MR. HENRY BEHR, of the well-known firm o'. Behr
Brothers & Co., of New York, piano forte makers, Is
on a visit to London, where he proposes to dispose
of some valuable patents invented by Mr. Gmehlin,
of his firm, and also possibly to establish an agency.
Mr. Behr has been the round of several piano-forte
factories, and has been very warmly received. Mr.
Behr's firm, it is claimed, now make 1,500 pianos

son, London, Eng., has been visiting this country on
business matters. He called at the factory of Wes-
sell, Nickel & Gross, and after thoroughly inspect-
ing their actions left them quite a large order. This
is only another of the many proofs of the excellence

ago. Mr. Murdoch is the manager of the John Spen
cer & Co., Limited, Piano Manufacturing Co., and he
is visiting this country partly for pleasure and partly
to obtain new ideas for his firm, which manufacture
forty pianos per week. Mr. Murdoch expressed him
self as much pleased with his first visit here and the
courtesies shown him by the trade generally. He
gave a very large order to the E. P. Carpenter Co.,
for their organs. Mr. Murdoch will leave on his
return home July i'th.
THE second number of the China Decorator is a
great improvement upon the first one. It seems to
cover fully the field for which it is designed, and
much credit is due to Mrs. O. L. Braumuller for the
manner in which it is edited.
Miss M A M CHIOKERINO, daughter of George H.
Chlckering, is engaged to John Fitzhubert Vernon
Ruxton, a young Irishman of large estates in Ire
land.
S. D. SMITH, president of the Smith American
Organ Co., Boston, left for Europe June '28th.
J. H. W. CADDY, formerly of Hudson, N. Y., but
more recently of Canada, has been tried and sen
tenced to three years imprisonment in the Albany
penitentiary.
