are over three hundred orders behind hand and
others coming in rapidly.
A LONDON trade journal states that a new "tam
bourlne drum accordion " has recently made its ap-
pearance in all the leading wholesale houses of that
city. In this instrument the mechanism consists of
small toothed wheels fixed on the bass bide of the
accordion. The lower toothed wheel is set in rotary
rm.tion by the pressure of the left thumb, and this acts
on a second toothed wheel, which acts upon an anchor
spindle. A wire is connected with a pendulum, which
quickly oscillates, and, acting on a drum and a bell,
gives at one operation an accordion, and a strong
imitation of a tambourine and a drum roll.- Ex-

MATHUSHEK & SON, N. Y., have leased for a long
term of years one of the finest warerooms in the city,
situated in theHorton building in 125th street. These
warerooms will be known as containing only first-
class instruments. The tlrm will hereafter use every
effort in enlightening the public of the difference be-
tween their high grade pianos and those of an inferior
quality, made by a certain firm who use the name of
Mathushek and trade upon the reputation of the
"Genuine Mathushek," made by Mathushek & Son.
The firm of Mathushek & Son have also leased a large
factory in 122d street, which is fitted up with all
modern improvements and will be lighted by elec-
tricity. The firm intend to greatly enlarge their manu-
facturing and place their pianos more prominently
before the dealers and public generally.

THK now catalogue of Colby, Duncan & Co., N. Y.,
is neat anil concise. It shows the different styles of
their uptight and new grand piano, with a description
of each instrument. Besides this the catalogue con-
tains only a short description of the factory and is
not tilled up with a lot of heavy reading matter, as is
he case with many.

excellent trade.
PEEK & SON, N. Y., are over'200 orders behind.
When we called at the factory a few days ago we were
shown a letter from a large dealer ordering 50 pianos
to be shipped as soon as possible, and a telegram
from another dealer which read as follows : " Send
all the pianos you now have ready." This shows that
the Peek piano is having a boom. Mr. George W.
Peek and his able assistant, Mr. Raymore, work until
12 o'clock every night and yet find work accumulat-
ing upon their hands.
THE infant daughter of V. Hugo Mathushek died
last week. Mr. Mathushek has our sincere sympathy
it his bereavement.
AUGUSTUS BAUS has returned home from his South-
ern trip looking well and pleased. He visited Wil-
mington, Del.; Washington, D. C.; Richmond and
Norfolk, Va.; Wilmington, N. C ; Charleston, S. C. ;
Savannah, Macon and Atlanta, Ga.; Jacksonville,
Fla.; Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile, Ala.;
New Orleans, La.; San Antonio, Austin and Sher-
man, Texas; Little Rock, Ark.; Memphis and Nash-
ville, Tenn. ; Louisville, Ky., and Cincinnati, Ohio.
In every town where the firm have agents Mr.
Baus took large orders, and established agencies in
towns where heretofore the Baus piano has not been
represented. We stated when Mr.Baus started that
his trip would prove a profitable one, and our predic-
tions have come true. The firm have by no means
received the full benefit of Mr. Baus' trip, as every
day brings letters duplicating the orders taken by
him.
A GLANCE at the order book of Behr Bros. & Co.
shows that they are having a very large trade. Their
tone muffler is constantly receiving praise from their
dealers, a sample of which from H. D. Munson&Sons,
Zanesville, Ohio, is as follows: "We think your
mufller a success and predict for it a rapid sale."
CONWAY MYERS has been admitted into the firm of
Manly B. Ramos &Co., Richmond, Va.
JOHN F. HUNEB, N. Y., is having a good steady
trade.
MANLY B. RAMOS, Richmond, Va., is daily expect-
ed in town.
WE recently noticed at the factory of Behning &
Son a very excellent lot of French walnut veneers,
which Mr. Behning had selected for their fancy
styles.
BEHNING & SON, N. Y., are enjoying a good trade.
They made a contract a few days ago with one dealer
for 60 pianos to be shipped as soon as possible. The
March sales of this firm were 20 per cent, ahead of the
same month last year, which shows a growing de-
mand for their instruments.
T. F. KRAEMER & Co. have very handsome ware-
rooms at 105 East 14th street. The rooms are very
high and deep and well adapted to the business. In
the rear will be the stool department and in frontthe
the fancy scarfs and covers.
WM. E WHEELOCK has just returned from a three
weeks' trip to Chicago, at which place the firm has a
branch house. The Wheelock piano is in good de
maud both in the West as well as in the East.
