WE have just received the illustrated catalogue of

FBEEBORN GARBETSON SMITH, accompanied by his
son, F. G. Smith, Jr., has gone to Washington,
D. C, to give out the contracts for the erection of
their large building on Pennsylvania avenue, run-
ning through to the street in the rear, which, when
completed, will be one of the largest and finest piano
warehouses outside of New York—a fitting testi-
monial of Mr. Smith to the success of the Brad-
bury Pianos. Mr. Smith says his summer trade was
never better than now. His men are working on
full time, orders are ahead of the supply, and his
various warerooms have small stocks. Ho is speci-
ally pleased wiLh his son's success during his visit to
California and through the Western States, for his
orders were large, and in many places new agencies
established.
E. P. HAWKINS, of the Smith American Organ Co.,.
will spend several days in New York before leaving
for England, in August.
Mr. GILES, of Everett & Giles, Quincy, 111., spent
a few days in town last week. Mr. Giles is the agent
for Behr Bros., and he speaks in warm terms of the
selling qualities of their instruments.
MB. IRA N. GOFF, of Providence, R. I., is in the
city, the guest of Jack Haynes. Mr. Goff is one
of the pet agents of Chickering & Sons, and Baus>
pianos.

THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW of June 20th to July
WEEK ENDING JULY 6, 1886.
5th devotes several columns to an expose of the
motives influencing the Courier's attacks, in the past,
on several well known and reputable firms in the
piano and organ business, including Messrs. Vose &
Sons, Geo. W. Carter, E. P. Carpenter, E. H. McEwen,
and others. There are some things in the article
that were well known to the trade, and others that
are new, the whole making a readable and racy
article, with considerable point to it.—Chicago Indi-
cator.
