his glass panel in the French country. As soon as
he obtains the patent he will place it in competent
and trustworthy hands, and push the sale through
the wholo of France.
"GATES AJAR," a collection of hymns and tunes
for Sunday-schools, praise and prayer meetings, etc.,
by J. H. Kurzenknabe, of J. H. Kurzenbnabe & Sons,
Harrlsburg, Pa., is now running in its second edition.
It is a well printed and neatly bound book. The
selections are excellent and the book ought to be
highly appreciated by the people for whom it is in-
tended, as it meets their wants exactly.

MR. GREENER'S new lawyer is trying to worry some
of the manufacturers into settling with him. We
trust, however, that they will flatly refuse, for
Greener's claim is virtually squelched, and those
who now settle will throw away just what they pay
him. We heard that this lawyer told a certain man-
ufacturer that Messrs. Steinway & Sons and Chick-
ering &, Sons had settled. The manufacturer at once
wrote both these firms and received replies that they
had not, nor did they intend to pay one cent until
compelled to through the courts.

I 1 MR. GEORGE W. CARTER, of the Grovesteen &
Fuller Piano Co., New York City, was recently
elected a member of the Washington Light Infantry
by acclamation. Mr. Carter says that his concern is
meeting with very encouraging success.

MR. HENRY BRINBMEAD, who from 1835 until
about six years ago was making pianos in London,
died recently at the age of seventy-four. The good-
will of his business was taken by Messrs. J . Brins-
mead & Son.

keeps along steady. They have no rush and do not
want any, as their regular business is equal to all
they can meet without having more hands and room.
In- Their business for February was larger than the
same month for the past five years. The new sign
which they have recently made, and which they pre-
sent to all their dealers, is very handsome and will be
an ornament to any wareroom.
MESSRS. STORY & CLAKK, the organ makers of
EDWARD MOCAMMON, Albany, N. Y., has just is-
sued a new circular which is very handsome. The
cuts are very fine and the printing excellent.

MR. H. B. FISCHER, of J. & C. Fischer, will re-
turn from a trip on the road about the 2Gth of this
month.
NEW and large factories seem to be the order in,
at least, the piano branch of the music trade.
Sohmer & Co. expect to have one, Christie it Son
will shortly move into theirs, and several other
manufacturers talk of similar changes.

WE learn from Mr. C. Kurtzmann, of Buffalo, New
York, that his business is very good, especially in the
retail line; in fact, he says he would not ask It to be
better.
R. M. BENT & Co., New York, state that they
have all the orders they can fill in their present
factory. Probably they will soon get a building with
more room and extend their trade.
DAVID KRAKAUER, of Krakauer Bros., New York,
will soon take a trip through the South ; this firm in-
tends to push their wholesale trade this year moro
than ever before.

Chicago, are highly delighted with their rapidly in-
creasing (business. They tell us that they are
gaining a large eastern trade. They have even pene-
trated to Boston—the organ building centra and
state that in that city and its vicinity they have no
trouble in making sales by the side of other organs.
Thoir trade in general is growing so fast that they
can only just about koep up with it, with their
present facilities. We should not be surprised to
hear that they were enlarging their factory before
long.
