MUSIC TRADE REVIEW.
THE Smith American Organ and Piano Company,
with characteristic enterprise, are out with a
splendid new catalogue. We reprint, in an-
other col«mn, extracts frono k it upon the care of reed
organs which dealers should read.
ONE OF the morning papers makes thestartling an-
nouncement that "just as the largest orders for
pianos were coming in last week.Sohmei & Cos men
refused to work overtime." Were they asked to work
overtime ? Has there been a time during the past
year that there had been any necessity of their work-
ing overtime V " What fools these mortals be " some-
times !
LITHOGRAPHS of the Story & Clark organ are being
rapidly forwarded to ^their agents at all points
through the United States and Europe.
WE HAD the pleasure of a visit from Mr. M. B. Hall,
of Essex, Conn. Mr. Hall has recently patented and
is now constructing a window hoist for pianos, safes,
etc It is decidedly tho best arrangement of the
kind we have yet seen.
WE HAD tke pleasure of a visit from Mr. W. 0.
Wilder, of the Taber Organ Co., Worcester, Mass.
Mr. Wilder informed us that his company was hav-
ing a good, steadyjfall trade. The Taber Company's
organs are handled by the best dealers In the trade
and are very popular.
To prevent errors and damages, Herrburger-
Schwander, manufacturers of piano actions and keys,
Paris, beg to inform the trade that the action
patents mentioned in the circulars of Jos. Delerue,
Oporto, as well as all improvements relative to the
same, are their (Herrburger-Schander's) sole prop-
erty, and these patents remain in full force for sev-
eral years still, both in the U. S. of N. America and
in Europe.
WE ARK in receipt of a very ingenious and hand-
somely gotten up calender, from Wm. Bourne &
Son, Boston.

DECEMBER • 20th • 1886.
• ETWEEN now and December 20th, we expect to visit the principal places from New York to San Fancisco, and give full news of the far Western
trade in that issue. We shall not, however, neglect the Eastern manufacturers and dealers, but instead, visit as many as possible and give them
an opportunity to avail themselves of the extra large circulation which this issue will have. Our regular circulation is acknowledged to be twenty-
five per cent, greater than any other paper pretending to represent the music trade. As proof of this, see Rowell's Newspaper Directory for 1886. We
shall spare no pains or expense to make this Holiday Number the most interesting and useful paper ever published in the music trade, and request the-
manufactures and dealers to aid us in doing this, by sending any articles which will be of interest to the trade in general.
