ESTABLISHED 1850.
SCHMIDT & Co., New York, felt coverers of piano
forte hammers, say that they have all the orders they
can fill by working ten hours a day and six days in
the week. The work done by this firm seems to
give universal satisfaction.
GEO. W. PEEK, of Peek & Son, New York, is quite
sick.
SWICK & Co., New York, state that they are over
forty orders behind.
C. D. PEASE & Co., New York, are not satisfied with
keeping up with the times, but they try to take tho
lead. Besides their patent glass panel, they have got
out a new name board covered with german silver.
This not only effectually prevents the ordinary
scratching by the finger nails while playing but also
presents an attractive appearance to the instrument.
NEWSPAPER advertisements are read while the ad-
vertisers sleep.
H. V. ELDRIDGE has opened piano warerooms at
15 East Swan street, Buffalo, N. Y.
THE policy of the E. P. Carpenter Co., Brattleboro,
Vt., is to offer all possible inducements to large deal-
ers by giving absolute protection in territory assign-
ed them, and to cater to their interests in every
legitimate way. The company positively refuse to
consign any organ or to carry long-winded paper. It
is not their ambition to make the largest number of
organs of any organ manufacturer, but to make an
instrument in every way good, and one that they can
sell at a remunerative price.
THE business of Peek & Son is moving along in
good shape. Their orders are coming in very fast
and their prospects for an excellent fall trade are
very satisfactory.
C. D. PEASE & Co., New York, have just got out an
original pedal guard, it is so arranged that no matter
how long the foot may be it is impossible to scratch
the piano. Mr. O. L. Fox, of the Chicago Indicator,
has prosented the firm with a testimonial of its value,
stating that it will no doubt meet with great favor
among the Chicago girls. We may also state for the
benefit of St. Louis dealers, that the tone of the Pease
piano is sufficiently loud to satisfy the ear of the St.
Louis girls.
S. TOWER, Cambridgeport, Mass., is steadily in-
creasing his trade, and adding new firms to his list
for upright actions. Every one who uses the upright
actions made by this house, speaks of them in the-
highest terms.

feel dull times.
