Editorial
Hello again. Now, by the time you read this we'll probably be over halfway through
the month. Whilst I do try to ensure the magazine goes out roughly in the first week
of the month, I'm afraid time just hasn't been on my side with this one; two weeks of
school holidays, plus the Sarratt auction all proved too much! However, now might
be a good time to mention publishing dates for the coming months. As there will not
be an August issue, I'm now going to start 'closing the gap' between the July and
September mags. So the next issue is planned for the third week in June, and issue 15
will be out toward the end of July. The September issue (hopefully) should then be
back to the first week of the month.
So, the auction! How was -it for you? Many thanks for all the letters, emails and
'phone calls I've received, which along with comments on the day, would seem to
suggest that a good time was had by all! Certainly, Jeremy and I were extremely
pleased with the event, and the fact that it was such a success makes it all the more
worthwhile. But once again, I cannot over-stress the importance of support - many
thanks to you all. However, there were a couple of things that went wrong! First, .the
'Great Allwin Challenge'. What happened to that? Quite simply, there just wasn't
time. This was disappointing, and I really do want to conduct this challenge at some
time in the future, so watch this space. The second is a little more serious, and
concerns a number of lots which 'didn't turn up'. I was so bloody annoyed at this,
I've related the entire story on the next page, so read on.
Now, as I stated briefly last month, we have a new project for the magazine:
The Wonders List. I've adopted this from the pennymachines website, as only site
users have participated so far, so I'm hoping readers of this mag. will be able to add
to the list. Anyway, details on page 12.
And finally, don't forget the Bollands survey. I know I've given it a rest for the
last couple of months, but it's not forgotten! I shall be printing the full list so far next
month, so please keep the info. coming in.
Anyway, that's it for now
All the best
Jerry
