Old-Tyme Penny Arcade
at Cheshire Workshops
By Darren Hesketh
Located in the beautiful Cheshire countryside close to Cheshire is the unique candle-
making visitor attraction, 'Cheshire Workshops'. A popular day out for families, with a
range of creative activities available for children (and adults for that matter). You can try
your hand at making your very own decorative candle, as demonstrated on BBC's
Tikkabillia (should any parents of young children be reading)! Then you can watch
candles being carved by hand, the traditional way, and also see our resident glass artist at
work sculpting some amazingly detailed pieces. Venture to the first floor where a range
of activities for children are available. Adults can join in too, though you may look a bit
sad decorating your own spoon puppet or Scooby Doo badge! ' Er in doors will be kept
busy spending your 'ard earned at the many gift stalls on site which sell a wide range of
decorative and unusual items. Finally, and best of all, is the 'Old-Tyme Penny Arcade'
situated on the ground floor next to the restaurant. On display and in use are around sixty
restored machines, plus there ' s our ' miniature ' (and I do mean miniature) joke shop.
