Watling busied himself with the very fine Watling Springless Scales .· All during the
decade of the ' JOs , Watling personal weighing scales were the industry ' s leaders .
Johnny did not neglect the firm ' s basic slot machine business . He held only to the
proved and tested models . The above "Rol- A-Top Front Vender Twin Jack Pot" was one
of Johnny ' s favorites . It entered into the decade of the ' 40s as one of the f i nest

Because of the great success of Mills Cherry Bell , Watling featured ~he rri es on his
"Rol- A- Top" s hown above . Then, in addition, because O. D. Jennings so str ong emphasized
his triple jackpot , Johnny Watling renamed this slot, " New Diamond Bell" and added a
large center jackpot to the re~ular Twin Jack Pot of the Rol- A-Top . In fact , the words,
"Twin Jack Pot", can be seen above painted over . This machine , too , entered into the
new decade as one of Watling ' s top sellers . Watling Manufacturing Co ., Chicago, was
one of the very first coinfactories to plunge into all out war production.
