On this day, July 4, 1776, this most marvelous nation came into being.
Today, July 4, 1976, the 200 years that have passed have seen the United
States of America become the most outstanding, the most powerful nation
in the history of the world.
Not only every American, but every American industry, takes time out
this year of 1976, the bicentennial year of this nation, to celebrate the
200th birthday of the United States of America. Each industry, regardless
of how much it spends, tries hard to get all the people to join with it
in its bicentennial celebration.
This industry of coin automation has no such problem. Because its busi-
ness always has been and still is - to entertain the people - all the people
young and old. And to entertain them most economically. Entertain them with
games and music with which they have become most familiar. Entertain them
the way they like to and want to be entertained.
A famed author once wrote, "There's mom. There's apple pie. There's
pinball." He concluded, "That's America." We thank him and, most especially,
thank all America for such sentiment. For making this industry so integral
a part of this great nation. For making jukeboxes a nostalgic memory of
youthful America. For making coin operated personal weighing scales a
national theme. In fact, for making all coin operated entertainment, service
and merchandising so definitely a part of all that's American.
The one definitely great and most enduring accomplishment was by this
industry bringing relaxation, fun, music and marvelously efficient auto-
matic merchandising to all the world. A truly sensational American achieve-
ment. An achievement of an American industry - the industry of coin auto-
mation. The one outstanding reason for this industry to celebrate America's
bicentennial by spreading American effort worldwide for the entertainment
and goodwill of all the known world this July 4, 1976.
