PAGE 2, OCTOBER , 1975
From its inception, "Marketplace" has called for all the industry, all
four of its divisions, amusement, music, vending and service machines, to
come together as: "One Industry" in "One Convention" - ONE FOR ALL!
Much, much water has flown under the bridge since that day, the day
prior to the opening of the CMI (Coin Machine Industries,Inc.) convention
almost 40 years ago, when a handful of vending machine manufacturers deci-
ded not to display, leaving their booths empty as protest to the reason
they would not exhibit their machines on the same floor and in the same
vicinity of slot machines and salesboards.

Those men have all since passed from this earthly scene. Automatic vending is, today,
in a highly traumatic state. Over those many years have come into being the conglomerates
of this industry - the large public owned vending operating firms. And these conglomerates ,
like today's operators, have diversified into all types of equipment so that routes are,
today, an admixture of games, music, venders and service machines.
Furthermore, the slots and salesboards have long, long ago left the scene. No longer
can these be openly displayed for sales in 49 of the 50 states. During these past many
years some manufacturers plus hundreds of distributors and thousands of operators have
been forced to endure the terrible inefficiency of double expense to attend two conven-
tions . Usually at two different times in two different cities.
These are not children of whom we write. These are, instead, outstanding, capable
and, in most instances, financially able businessmen. Businessmen who realize the worth
of "One Industry - One Convention". The magnificent stimulation that comes into being
when al l come together in conventionmet at one time during the year. Know the tremendous
impression this makes on the general public. Realize the regard and respect this gains
from other industries as well as from government officials on local, state and national
levels.
Certainly, then, after almost 40 years, the time is long overdue to again bring into
being the one time each year when convention means - ONE F'OR ALL!
