Getting into Watling, a few inter
esting things. That ROL-A-TOR
GOLD AWARD VENDER, serial
ROL-65,352, 5$, carries the rare
identification of style and model.
The inside paper calls it the "Style
137, Inspector 31" notice. Then,
ROL-A-TOP"Coin" serial 88,948 in
5$ play is a 3-5 pay machine with
twenty stops.
Thafs it for a busy contributing
month. The people that gave
us serials and pictures this
month are Marty Roenigk
in East Hampton, CT; Charley Clag-
horn in Atlantic Highlands, NJ; Larry
Drummond of Lucasville and Carl
Aiken of Madison, in Ohio; SA Maz-
zeo in Kentucky; Ron Machtemes
in Evergreen Park, IL; Jerry Noel in
Hamburg, Wl; Paul Olson of Olson's
Slot Shoppe in Sartell, MN; Jeff
Frahm of the St. Louis Slot Machine
Company in St. Louis, MO; and Hal
O'Rourke of Austin and Fred Mar
shall of Lubbock, TX.
Above right, Groetchen COLUMBIA Bells
don't turn on a lot of collectors, while
others think they're just great This one,
in Bill Whelan's collection, is interesting
as the serial is 17. That's "Seventeen." It
seems odd, and not correct, but that's
the number on the machine. It is set up
for 50 play.
Far right; there is a far greater variety of the
Mills EXTRAORDINARY-type floor ma
chines than most collectors had ex
pected. Many were never catalogued by
Mills, so it takes surviving examples to
reveal the models and colors. This is the
Mills CLUB BELL "Century" made for
private clubs. Case is red, trim natural
aluminum and the cabinet all wood. A
late handle was added. Based on the
play of 25$ and serial 455,715, this
machine was probably made in late 1939
or early 1940. Collector is Fred Marshal
of Lubbock, Texas.
Right is the inside story of Fred Marshall's
Mills CLUB BELL "Century" looks a lot
like the NEW BONUS, although minor
differences can be made out.
