The Mills SILENT GOOSENECK BELL
machine had a short and somewhat
unsuccessful bid for a corner of the slot
machine market It was introduced si
multaneously with the very popular
"Escalator Bells" and Mills soon found
that the operators did not need the
gooseneck
machine.
The
Silent
GOOSENECK(commonly referred to as
"Lion's Head", "Wolfs Head", "Tiger
Front" or "Super Bell") soon became a
catchall for old pre-silent mechanisms
and Mills sold the machines at bargain
prices in 1932 and 1933 as the REBUILT
GOOSENECK As Dick Bueschel has
stated in An Illustrated Price Quide to
the 100 Most Collectible Slot Machines,
Volume I, "They ("Lion's Heads") aren't
particularly rare, but if s hard to find two
alike." In the Serial Number Update, we
see an example of this sometimes strange
what-is-it machine.
