comes up, the disc is automatically sensed by the
bonus operating foot and then rotated to the next
detent position, which corresponds with the next letter
due.

Hold the notched disc to prevent its turning while you
rotate the first reel backwards until the needed letter
is on the payout line. The disc will now be synchronized
with the reel. Allow the clock to run out and observe that
the bonus foot strikes the disc properly and the
appropriate letter flag is erected.
This mechanism is quite simple to adjust after the
two set screws fixing it to the reel disc hub are
slackend. Play the mechanism thru, stop the first reel
so that a letter is on the payout line, and then allow the
clock to run out. On the fourth click you will note that
the operating foot of the bonus mechanism is released

disc. Proper positioning of this disc is such that the foot
strikes the disc at the flat spot which ajoins the notch
as shown in the illustration. Simply rotate the entire
assembly until this alignment is achieved and then
retighten the set screws. Be sure there is adequate
side clearance between the disc and detent cam to
allow free rotation of the disc. The foot should not
strike the flat spot and advance the disc unless a letter
is on the pay line, when the disc should advance to the
next detent position.
