EDITOR'S STATEMENT
My name is Gil Folsom, and I am the new editor of the Coin
Slot.
Since last November I have been helping to publish the
Coin Slot.
There has been no change in ownership, only a change
in editor.
At any rate, the Coin Slot has come far since its inception.
Now I would like to carry it even further with your help.
The
purpose of this magazine is to serve ". . . collectors of antique coin
operated mechanical devices." The main focus to date of the Coin
Slot has been and will continue to be centered around antique
slot machines. But most of you also collect other coin operated
antiques as well.
You know that there are hundreds of other
fascinating kinds of machines out there. I am sure most of you
would enjoy reading about them as well on a more regular basis.
Therefore I
am soliciting your help in accomplishing this goal.
If any of you are knowledgeable on jukeboxes, player pianos,
penny arcade machines, counter games, etc. I would like to hear
from you.
The Coin Slot needs coverage of these areas in the
form of articles and stories. Articles on restorations, auctions,
personalities, player appeal, etc. would also be warmly welcome.
Here's a chance for you to become an accomplished writer and
help out all your fellow collectors at the same time.
If you have
any suggestions or advice on any of these matters, I would like to
hear from you.
All of this would be deeply appreciated, and you
can contact me through the Coin Slot.
One example of the Coin Slot's branching off and covering
other machines lies in the addition of the monthly column on
pinball machines.
John Fetterman and Steve Young are doing
an excellent job in this area.
They have a real love for the game
and are almost walking encyclopedias when the subject of pinball
comes up.
In addition, they have a vast supply of parts and pieces
for antique pinball machines. If you need a part or information on
your pinball game, they are the men to contact.
If they do not
have what you need, they can put you in touch with someone
who can very quickly. So do not be afraid to contact them for
