ing hundreds of pounds.
The early music boxes can be
traced back to the 18th century;
but, the industry did not become
well known until the mid 19th
century.
The first music boxes
were of the cylinder type.
The
cylinder, made of brass, revolved
and played notes, known as reeds
or teeth which extended from
a steel comb.
