EDITOR'S STATEMENT
Starting this month the young lady who will be answering the Coin
Slot phone when I am not around will be Kathy Kaufman. Ms. Kauf
man's duties are to make sure all subscriptions are correct and to ga
ther the material to put the Coin Slot together.
I visited on the phone with Mr. Roy Arrington of Victorian Casino
Antiques who's auction will be held June 25 & 26 with review being
held June 24.
Mr. Arrington indicated this will be more of a machine collectable
auction with more high quality items.
He also suggested that reser
vations to the Frontier Hotel be made as soon as possible because that
is their busy season.
I'll be looking forward to seeing you all there.
I would like to hear from those of you who are contemplating legis
lation in your states to ease ownership of gambling items. I would be
very interested in any news items concerning confiscation of machines
or court cases resulting from them.
Again I would like to plead to those who have free ads comming to
please send them in.
Remember there are people out there who have
machines for sale and also want to buy, one acquision will be small
reward to get the collectables you are looking for.

SLOT MACHINES - A PIC-
SLOT MACHINES - A PIC
TORIAL REVIEW by David
Christensen; The Vestal Press,
P.O. Box 97, Vestal, 19 N.Y.
13850; 123 pp.; $10.95.
Lawmakers are beginning
to recognize that mere poses-
sion of an antique gambling
machine by a legitimate col
lector need not further the
illegal interests of professional
gamblers. California, thanks
to a bill signed by Gov. Brown
on Aug. 14, 1976, will no
longer permit the senseless
destruction of valuable an
tiques manufactured prior to
1941 if the owner can prove
to the satisfaction of a court
that gambling was not in
volved with such machines as
may have been seized by the
authorities.
In order to assist collectors
and antique buffs to date and
identify their machines, the
Vestal Press has reprinted —
in a new and expanded hard
cover edition — "Slot Ma
chines — A Pictorial Review."
The author, a professional art
ist, made over 60 beautiful
. pen-and-ink drawings of an
tique "One Armed Bandits."
Richard Bueschel, author
of the forthcoming general
history on "slots" — "Lemons,
Cherries, and Bell-Fruit Gum"
to be published by The Ves
tal Press, has written a seven-
page
foreword
edition
to this new
bringing
the reader
up-to-date on the latest in
historical findings about the
machines illustrated. The ori
ginal paper-back book lacked
a table of contents and an
index; these have been added
in order to bring the book up
to standards required by lib
rarians and serious researchers
in the field.
Now you can get
AUTOGRAPHED COPIES!
If you already have the softcover edition of Dave
Christensen's great book on slots, you'll want the
new hardcover edition, if only for the seven-page
forward that updates the original and adds new
history.
If
you
don't have the book,
you're
missing the greatest thing in print on slots. Here's
the best offer of all - you can have your copy
autographed by Christensen or Bueschel, or both.
If you want the author's to add a salutation or
comment, just give them a rough idea of what to
say.
These will be collector's items!
Price is
$10.95, but add $.65 for postage, total $11.60.
