Coin Slot Magazine - #024 - 1977 - January [International Arcade Museum]
EDITOR'S STATEMENT
First, I would like to thank all of those who have given me a vote
of confidence by renewing their subscriptions this month. Those
who became new subscribers by either extensive advertising or
word of mouth, we welcome you.
We see the lawmakers of California have adopted a bill which will
allow their citizens to privately own gambling devices manufac
tured prior to 1941.
There is no doubt this will bring to the
surface some rather extensive collections and a new freedom to
seek out other pieces, not to mention the flood of collectors that
will be added to the fold.
The Coin Slot saluted Jerry Kenser for his nearly single handed
efforts to enable California residents to legally collect and possess
gambling devices. Because of the large population affected by this
law, I understand that New York is now considering a similar law.
Colorado will consider changing their lawbooks sometime this year.
I have talked to other collectors who are hoping for similar action
to be taken in their own states.

Several California residents sent me a copy of the bill adopted to
de-criminalize the possession of pre-1941 gambling devices. A copy
of this bill appears in this months Coin Slot. I would like to thank
those who sent in copies and will continue to publish any other
material sent to me dealing with this issue.
It will be of interest to those who are reprinting materials on coin
operated collectables that I have had many requests for just that.
I would say for those who do have reprints, drop me a line, or ad
vertise in the Coin Slot.
I have just received a 1913 Mills reprint catalog and ad copy from
Mr. Ira Warren of Antique Amusements of Brooklyn, New York.
I will say that it is the best reprint of Mills machines yet. Of
special interest to me were the pictures and descriptions of such
Mills machines as Silver Cup-and ■Tbtem. You will find it very
interesting.
