I now hope that the bubblegum craze has put the bite on you.
Whether you would like to collect bubblegum machines as a
hobby, for resale, or would just like to own one machine for the
fun of it; please remember there are important items you should
consider.
The following should give you an idea what to look for when pur
chasing a gumball machine for your collection.
1.
Decide what type of machine you are interested in. An orig
inal machine or a restored machine. There is a big difference.
There are collectors that contact me daily that own original
machines.
So believe me, they are out there and they do
On the other hand, restored mach

command a higher price.
2.
The globe should be in tact and not broken or cracked.
3.
The machine should not be repainted for the value of the
machine is decreased considerably.
4.
5.
The machine should be keyed and have original locks. A
good example is the Columbus Machine which used locks in
scribed with the Columbus name.

Geographical location plays a very important role in acquir
ing the gumball machine.
As an example, you will find that
an Advance machine is not readily available in the Midwest,
but in the South is very plentiful.
Therefore the price ap
plied to identical machines may vary greatly depending on
location.
8.
Availability of gumball machines is primarily controlled by a
select group of individuals, so the source of supply is limited.
Most of the suppliers are not generally known to the public
or Coin-slot readers.
Therefore, you must be willing to ex
plore.
9.
Make sure that the seller advises you of the condition of the
machine, and whether or not parts are missing.
Do this be
fore the sale is made.
10.
Today, you should expect to pay a return penalty of approx
imately 15% of the original purchase price should you return
the machine within 10 days. You honestly cannot expect the
seller to package and restock a machine for anything less.
11.
Make sure, if buying outstate, the machine is insured, and
postage paid by the seller.
12.
To improve delivery, use certified checks, which will always
expedite your order.
Purchasing a bubblegum machine should be almost as fun as using
one.
Be smart and follow the above suggestions when you inquire
