EDITORIAL
Getting out the first issue of a newsletter is quite a chal
lenge, especially when it is on a subject that has never been
covered before; at least as far as we know.
This task is fur
ther complicated by the fact that neither Edith nor I have
ever edited anything before.
However, with a great deal of
help from people all over the country we have managed to get
out this first issue.
We hope it gives you as much pleasure
as it gave us satisfaction in preparing it.
Very frankly, The Coin Slot can only survive if there is
interest shown in the placement of, and response to ads; and
if we can print interesting articles and reproductions of old
coin-op and mechanical advertisements and instruction sheets.
All correspondence is welcomed.
Your comments will be
graciously accepted, and your suggestions will be well heeded.

On this months cover, the opposite page, and in the center
fold, we have reprinted an ad that was put out by the Viking
Specialty Company, San Francisco, California, during the late
1930ss.
They carried a complete line of coin-op equipment,
'
ranging from slots, gumballs, and stamp machines, to units
that vended prophylactics, matches, handkerchiefs, and even
scales and pay toilet locks.
