demand. Flavor of Mexican beans is deli-
ca te while Madagascar beans have a stron g,
pungen t flavor; there are champions of
each type of flavor. A trade leader told the
convention that "the social unrest of low
paid native labor" is a big factor in the
vanilla supply picture from Madagascar.
American buyers have suggested a plan to
Madagascar officials for stabilizing prices
and selling on contract in the U. S. to
licensed agents only.
