WESTERNAIR
3* 103 Stan Boreson
I'M LOOKIN' FER A WIFE (V HB)
APPLE BLOSSOM WALTZ (Inst.)
Starter is a sprightly hill tune with good lyrics
and rhythm, and should enjoy average play. Bot-
tom side falls short of the opener and only a Cer-
tain poignancy in the melody saves it from being
buried at the bottom of the stack fill.
3* 106 Cal Shrum
I CAN'T HELP THE WAY YOU FEEL
(VHB)
I'M HUMAN SAME AS YOU (V HB)
A couple of conventional cowtown heart break.
ers, with a sigh and lament in every bar. Good
for fills only.
ing . First tune is being revived in a current flicker .
Coupling has the boys at a slower pace. Good_
3* 20-2518 Billy Williams
THROW A SADDLE ON A STAR
(HBV)
ROUNDUP TIME FOR LOVE (HB V)
Fa,t and snappy. Billy's ingratiating Texas style
of serenading is pleasing, Tunes are of customary
western calibre. Okeh for hillbilly spots.
3* 20-2520 Pee Wee King
DON'T FEEL SORRY FOR ME (HB V)
DON'T FORGET (HBV)
Rustic music fans will take this one In with open
arms. Pee Wee and the Golden West Cowboys
are moving into the fore ranks with their record-
ings. Rapid-fire guitar plucking with zingy fiddles
accentuate the numbers . Satisfactory.
4* 20-2500 Charlie Spivak
VICTOR

Male quartet numbers with piano,· guitar, drums

HOW LUCKY YOU ARE (WalhVC)
AT DAWNING (FT)
Spivak does an excellent job of recording Eng-
land 's top tune. The Spivak trumpet echoes the
melody and sets the mood. A neat, romantic pack-
age . Interpretation of Cadman's "At Dawning"
has superb feeling.

I'LL DANCE AT YOUR WEDDING
(FTV)
CAROLINA IN THE MORNING
(FTV)
In line with the current vogue Victor couples a
new tune and an old favorite for splendid results.
Martin is in good voice and both sides will please.
3* 20-2513 The Three Suns
SLEEPY TIME GAL (FT)
THAT OLD GANG OF MINE (FTV)
A pair of favorites get a "Three Suns" s.ndoff
on this platter. First is a straight instrumental,
while a barber shop quartet type of vocal gives a
nostalgic appeal to the second side . Good.
4* 20-2482 Sammy Kaye
HAND IN HAND (FTVC)
SANTA CLAUS FOR PRESIDENT
(FTVC)
Good program record. First side is a sentimen·
tal thing featuring a vocal duet. Second is timely.
Speeches, shouls of joy interpolate the martial
rhythm as the novel election gets under way. Use
it to advantage right now.
4* 20-2483 Beryl Davis
PASS THAT PEACE PIPE (V)

The lush thrush from overseas demonstrates a sur-
prising flair for novelty numbers on the first side
of this disc. On the exciting and colorful Redskin
rhapsody Beryl wraps it up in brilliant style. Cou-
pling was introduced twenty years ago and is as
warm and tender today as then. A good operator's
record.
4* 20-2497 T ex Beneke
A GIRL THAT I REMEMBER (FTVC)
SURPRISE SYMPHONY (FT)
"A" side is one of the most popular numbers the
Beneke band is asked to plar, on dance dates. Tune
is a ballad and keyed to a s ow dance tempo. Flip-
over is a true surprise in the way Haydn's "Sur-
prise" symphony i~ played by the Beneke bun~h .
Haydn really jumps, as the horns sound out WIth
some torrid heat. Excellent for automatic use .
3* 20-2498 Bill Johnson
CHICKASAW LIMITED (V N)
YOU'RE THE DREAM OF A LIFETIME
(FTV)
Bill Johnson and his Musical Notes are currently
hitting some of the top night spots along the east-
ern sea board. Johnson and Gus Gordon set the
lyrics afloat on these numbers and the style is in-
teresting to note. Passable as program filler .
4* 20-2484 Sons of the Pioneers
OUT IN PIONEERTOWN (HB V)
YOU'LL BE SORRY WHEN I'M GONE
(HBV)
"Pioneertown" is the spot where Roy Rogers and
the Sons of the Pioneers go on location for Repub-
lic films . Tim Spencer has written the colorful lazy
number about the spot where the scented breeze
of the frontier still remains . Coupling features the
Sons' distinctive vocal blending . Nice record ; it 'll
ring up a nice return.
3* 20-2486 Rosalie Allen
MOUNTAIN POLKA (HB V)
BELIEVE ME, I'LL BE LEAVING YOU
(HBV)
Featuring three guitars throughout, this polka
clips right along at a brisk tempo. Rosalie's rhyth-
mic feeling is dance inducing. Some sturdy yodel-
ing is included on the second side.
