A Department intended to aid operators in • their maintenance problems under
wartime conditions. All material appearing herein has been supplied by operators •
in various parts of the nation and edited by Jimmie Rutter of Operators' Service,
Los Angeles.

THE TROUBLE SHOOTER wi shes to tak e
thi s opportunity to wish each and every
Operator and Mechanic a Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year.
As things look today it may be quite a
while before new ma chines are on the mar-
ket, so take the best of care of those you
have running now.
We have noticed, and have had some
work , on the Club Bells Consoles where
th e shaft to th e roll ers and stops on th e
wheels have been welded to keep them in
place. This is okeh until you break a roller
and have to replace it or any pa rt connect-
ed to the shaft.
You can get a part made at any machin e
shop to make these stops as solid as they
are when welded and can be removed by
unscrewing an Allen Key. If the operators
wish to have these made, THE TROUBLE
SHOOTER will be glad to send a drawing to
you so that you can put the part on your

Seeburg Tone Arm Adjustments on mod-
els 7800 should be approximately 3½
ounces and on 7850, 8800 and 9800 should
be 2½ ounces. If a weight t est is made
while machine is being played it is easy to
determine when the needle starts lifting
out of the record groove. On the model
7800 you can vary the weight by bending
the flat spring underneath the tone arm to
give the desired weight.
On other models you ca n vary the weight
by changin g the setting of the screw locat-
ed in the center of the tone arm.

WASHINGTON - Yank, official Army
newspaper published in 15 editions and
with a circulation of almost two mill ion ,
devoted a full page in its December 1st
issue to "advertisin g's contribution to th e
wa r."
Yarn made much of the fa ct that ad -
writers a t hom e were brushing off short-
ages by explaining that "this-and-that has
gone to war" to the point that the impres-
sion was conveyed that the boys in service
were " dawdlin g over a cafe royal e in fur-
lin ed slit trenches."
Illustration showed a hu ge box of sirloin
steaks, nylon stockings, pianos, barrels of
Lu cky Strike Green, wash machines and
automati c phonographs being loaded at
th e New York port for shipment to the
boys overseas. "Yes," went on the articl e,
"everythin g from Aunt Elinor's radio to
