mouthpiece simultaneously.
Sandwiched in between flipping buttons,
pressing switches, sleight·of·handling discs,
soothing irate customers, placating drunks
and keeping the nickels coming are a few
miscellaneous duties such as typing record
tags, answering the phone and handling
service calls.
In the order named, these are the songs
which carried the most fingerprints last
month: "Rum and Coca-Cola," " Don't
Fence Me In," and "Twilight Time."

Recent visitors at Jack R. Moore Co. in-
cluded the following out of towners: A. C.
Watson, of Lewis and Co., Tacoma; Mr.
Guthrie of the Western Music Co., Spo-
kane; Gino Magrini, Tacoma Novelty and
Sound ; Chet Pepple, Wenatchee; L. R.
Farrell, Mt. Vernon; Mr. Lewis, Klam ath
Falls, Ore.; Hobart Hedri ck, Shelton, and
many others.
An unexpec ted and pleasant surprise
greeted the Bert Beutlers this month wh en
a long di sta nce phone call ca me in from
Santa Ana, Calif., announcing the safe re-
turn of Mrs. Beutler's brother after 3 years
in the India-Burma-China theater of war
as a medic attached to the Ai'r Corps. Sgt.
Luth er Alger, by name, was transferred

by request to Fort Lewis, Wash., for dis-
persal , and there received his furlough
leave of 4 weeks. Laden with citations,
service stripes, campaign pins, a Tibetan
Spaniel dog and worlds of experiences to
relate, Sgt. Alger spent a hectic week with
the Beutlers, receiving a royal welcome
and seeing the Northwest for the first time.
He then trained to San Francisco to
catch a plane for a look at the old home
town of Ashland, Kentucky. He reports
back to Santa Ana after his furlough for
reassignment whi ch he hopes will be Eu-
ropean duty.
City ops who carried furrowed frown s
on their faces when the Byrnes midnight
curfew bell tolled, are smiling broad-
beamedly because play has increased as a
result. A vet op explained it thusly: "The
gang who used to take off at ten p.m. for
some out-of-way night spot and remain
until th e small hours of th e morning stay
in town now because it isn' t practicable
to travel a long di stance for just a few
hours' entertainment. Then, too, there are
phonos and pin games in restaurants and
the curfew doesn't effect th em."

To Manuf·a cfure Game
MILWAUKEE-A. R. Slade, of the Bat-
ter-U p Co., announ ces th at he has pur-
chased the manufacturin g rights to an abso-
lutely new principl e of Ball Rack Games
for Parks, Arcades and individual pitching
or baseball stores fo r all season opera tin g.
Game assists any ball player in p erfect-
ing his eye and pitchin g, and a pp eals in
three different ways. A single player can
thoroughly enjoy th e scientifi c principl e.
It's com petitive and thus attractive to two
players; but the big appeal is in team play.
F our, fi ve or six men on a team ca n come
to ba t, or ra th er pitch in rotation, and
every play of a ball game ca n be p ut into
operation .
Entire construction is of available mate-
rials and Slade intends to go into imme-
diate production. Game will likely sell for
considerabl y less th an $250.00 per unit.
Further details will be announ ced in nex t
month's issue.
